Hosta - knees are a nightmare when they don't work so well. Painkillers might be the best solution - I know my mum was told to take them for her arthritis - but I'd hate to have to take those regularly
On the plus side - I like your new avatar
Not only a nice avatar, but have finally got to grips with the quotes thingy.
Quick 5 minutes before I start dinner. Can't complain, had a lovely lunch with some friends, home made garlic soup, delicious, sat out of the decking overlooking their lake, gorgeous autumn colour and then followed off with a Mary Berry Lemon Drizzle cake I made this morning, such a quick & easy recipe and delicious. There is thunder in the air now (for real, not OH) . Think Topbird might be right about male way of venting stress, my friend suggested the same thing. Luckily he is going to the UK tomorrow so we can all have a bit of a breather from each other. Charlie & I are going caving and to a Pumpkin festival.
Jo get yourself a fleecy blanket out and another dose of what Dove ordered yesterday. I also hope you get an apology off you plumber fella, probably not likely though.
OK, 3 course dinner to prepare so I better crack on.

Huzzar!
Lyn - I just noticed your avatar - and I'm slightly scared....
jo - I'm always mindful of the mountain rescue too. Too many idiots go out unsuitably attired etc, so I have no intention of adding to their numbers by pushing my luck with the lack of daylight now. I went out 10 days ago to do a Corbett on a Friday after work to make the most of great weather, but calculated carefully how much time I had. I knew there was a good path lower down - negotiable even if the light was going. Still jogged as much as possible coming back just to be sure!
Good for you re the gas man. What is it with these clowns?
Mary's Lemon Drizzle is the only one I use - but I add even more lemon to make it nice and sharp ...yum yum
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Never did make it outside today, just kept finding excuses, ended up getting bored, but own fault I suppose.
DD, can I have a bit of lemon drizzle please.
Don't be too hard on OH, us men are sensitive souls! He is probably very scared about what has happened, but does not want to admit it.
I have had 2 personal experiences of Mountain Rescue. First time I was benighted in the Cairngorms in bad weather and met them walking in, as I was walking out the next morning. I bought them breakfast in Braemar.
Second time was much worse, had to call them out when a friend I was climbing with, was killed. Their support for me over the next few days was amazing.
Better start the dinner, see you later.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Well the water chap hasn't returned to do any work yet (he said it might be today or tomorrow). It is a little disconcerting to be able to hear running water throughout the house (you can hear it in all the pipes) and I am ever so hopeful its not rushing through the foundations under the house although there is still no sign of damp anywhere on the property so I'm hopeful its just a minor leak with a melodramatic streak.
Back to work tomorrow. We shall see if anything changes. Entertainingly (ha) my boss hasn't responded to emails wanting to know what is happening regarding my holiday entitlement (I have been so busy I've not taken any of my February - February allowance having intended on taking it in December when we're quiet. But my new contract starts in November so have I lost all that holiday?) But IS emailing me regarding other stuff so I know he must be looking at emails.
Still, I'm debating attending a job interview next week so its all good fun!
Tonight I shall be drinking tea, cuddling under a blanket, and writing a list of things I want to do and places I want to see.
Then I will staple it to the wall and see if his lordship gets the hint!
Oh doc, re your friend - that's the worst scenario imaginable. They're worth their weight in gold, and I find it incredible that they have to rely on scraps to keep going. No matter how well prepared you are, or how experienced, mishaps happen, but they must struggle to hold back sometimes when they see the daft things people do - lack of clothing and no maps are the most common I think
Second night of goulash for me and little fairylet. One of or faves. Cottage pie is another one Hosta

Evening all.
Jo and Fairygirls Thanks.
I've just been signed off work for another month. I had to introduce myself to my new section manager even though she's been there a month already.
Batch No2 of Hubby's home made cottage pie tonight.
Only 3 more weeks then he's home for the winter so I'll be eating something different every night. ( and not having to cook it )
Enjoy your evenings one and all.
