Busy Lizzie: I can't claim the idea as my own, we did it for my parents cat when she got a little leaky in her old age. The blanket is still nice and soft for her but the waterproof backing did make things rather more manageable for us! Another idea would be puppy training pads on top of their bed that you can just throw away quickly (very useful if you or your partner get a little squeamish about cleaning up OR of course if you need to concentrate on cleaning up the dog!). I think I'm right in thinking they're soft so would still be comfortable to sleep on.
If he gets much worse have you considered doggy nappies? It does sound weird but apparently they can be very useful (even if just for when you're in the car?) if you can still cope with cleaning up.
I hope you all have a good day.
Talking about leaks: I've turned off the water at the stop cock outside and have been told the water board will be here before 16:00 to assess this "emergency call" as they seem almost overwhelmed with emergencies today. Have we had our first frost?
It is a little concerning that I can't see any evidence of water coming out of anything which means the leak must be either on my neighbours property or underneath the house. Either way: not good! (Especially since I'm having to flush the loo with water butt water so if its not a quick fix I'd best hope for rain!)
Lesley, they are so pretty......just like Bambi.......but they have chewed a couple of plants. But think they are mostly eating the acorns that seem to be in abundance this year. Should have taken a pic really, couldn't believe they were that close to the house. They weren't actually eating anything then, they were just staring at me through the doors!
Great news for your friend, Hosta! Not surprised you were both blubbing... Hope you and Lyn have a lovely day.
A busy morning organising bits and pieces for Mum's move (next week, if all goes according to plan) and contacting solicitor, etc. Everything always takes three times longer than I expect - usually because the person I need to speak to isn't available, so I have to hang around doing something else in the house until they ring back.
It's a glorious day here - blue sky, bright autumn foliage and... a bit of a nithering wind. Hope I'll get the last of the bulbs planted later.
Hope you get that water leak sorted quickly, Clari! And that you feel properly better soon.
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Dry here for now going to do more pallet breaking, yesterday managed to break a few pallets and nearly got a coldframe made for the allotment plot coldframe longer than my last one and taller this time
My dog wood has changed colour and the leaves are looking great
Veg patch raked over and two double rows of broad beans Aquadulce Claudia sown and covered with chicken wire to stop any visiting cats from scratching them up. Mind you, the neighbour's cats haven't been around much lately Famous last words?
I've also planted some Rip van Winkle daffodil bulbs - they're very similar to some that were in the vegetable garden at the farm when I was a child and I'm very fond of their dishevelled appearance
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Nice daffodil Dove. it did remind me to make a hair appointment though.
Lily I often see 3 deer when out for a walk with the dog and they do just stand and stare at you. Perhaps you could tie some cds or something similar to make them more wary of coming into the garden.
Liri I hope that all the arrangements go smoothly and your Mum will love her new home.
Jo I hope your gas man has turned up today. I was going to look up jokes about procrastinating but I'll do it later.
