Hello all - back from the hills. Quite a short day, but a fabulous one , as the weather was a delight once the fog cleared. Lots of pix, although not such clear skies at the top as yesterday. Met a group of youngsters from Stirling Uni - the mountaineering club - and walked a bit with them. They were from all sorts of places - Hawaii, London and Northern Ireland, to name a few. A lovely young Scottish lad was 'guiding' and we had a great chat on the descent. Great to see them all on the hill enjoying themselves, and that boy was a credit to his parents.
As lunchtime views go - it ain't too shabby....
Yesterday's views weren't bad either..
Ben Lomond on the way home (yesterday)
So glad to hear you've had better, more positive news DD. That takes a bit of the strain off, and it's great that you have some good support.
Look after that horrible burn ....and sit down and think of yourself for a while!
I sat at the top of that hill today thinking of you, and a few others, and realising how lucky I am to have the health to do what I do. We never know what's waiting round the corner for us.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Have not just got up..... honest in fact was awake around half eight Didn't get up though till 10 was just too warm
Have been to a well known Swedish shop and managed quite a small spend.... a lovely pic for our bedroo, some plates and a clock that shows room temperature.... it is currently 24 degrees in our living room
DD, glad you are keeping positive and that OH is in good hands
What fabulous pics Fairy - takes your breath away. (No, not singing it you'll be glad to hear). It has turned into a lovely autum day and I have been cutting down and clearing up everything that goes soggy.
Welcome back Gillygee. It's hard work when you haven't been able to get into the garden for a while (tell me about it). The weeds grow so much better and faster than the plants.
Just popping in before cooking supper - it's been wet here so has been a h*w*k day today in the hope that I can spend tomorrow in the garden as a delivery of Sunset Glow wallflowers has arrived. It was a 3 for 2 deal, so the plan is that I'll pot some up for Wonky and take them over and plant them next time I visit - along with some of those 50 free tulip bulbs we've all ordered
Problem is I'm not sure if I've got enough room for the wallflowers - might have to enlarge the border
Keeping DD and her loved ones very much in my thoughts ((hugs)).
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
A parcel ofbulbs came today. I bought a couple of already potted and growing amaryliis from lidl. I bought four new echeverias from Trebah, and an autumn flowering anemone from Heligan. I bought nothing at Rosemoor, I was very good. When I've finished all the washing, i start planting.
Supper tonight? OH is having buttery garlicky tomatoey chicken breast baked in the oven and I'm having a piece of rare rump steak (he's not a steak chap, but I am ) and we're having baked sweet potatoes and sweetcorn with lots of butter.
A bottle of vino has already been broached - cheers folks.
Where's Hosta today? Ah, remembered - Hosta's playing Host this weekend isn't he?
Hope he doesn't overdo things with his knees, or his OH's knees either

........ btw - meant to ask you Dove - your painted fern - where do you have it growing?
.............
It's with a group of potted ferns in a terracotta half-pan pot on the terrace up against a north-facing retaining wall in a sheltered corner.
In the winter I move all the ferns (and other stuff in pots) into the south-facing corner and wrap the pots in bubblewrap and build a protective wall around them with the wooden garden furniture, just to keep the worst of the cold winds off them.

Glad you had a good time fidget
Having a look in the fridge for some leftovers for dinner ...
Can't really be bothered otherwise
Are you dancing after you've eaten the curry , or before KEF?
I need to plant bulbs too - although the forecast is looking very good again tomorrow....no, best stay home and get on outside!
