Afternoon all. Home - not from the hill though. Weather was utterly vile so no point. could hardly see the bealach. Hill forecast is still just saying cloudy. Such is life
Didn't help that by the time I got back down the south end of Loch Lomond all the rain had stopped and there was even some sun. Double Back home and the sun's out and there's blue sky. Typical. Triple and At least I got out on Sunday so not all bad.
Glad you got a walk doc. Ooh...more rhyming Those dippers are lovely aren't they?
Glad you're able to get that Liri. Sometimes they also show things on national tv after it's been on the Scottish Beeb.
No chocolate left here - fortunately. Not much Christmas cake either though...
I never liked those bars of different choc. Hated that Fry's Creme stuff too Just as well we're all different or I'd be fighting you lot for the bobbly pink and blue liquorice allsorts and the coconut QStreets
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Glad you're on the mend DD - as for families, what can't be fixed must be ignored ... sometimes these things fix themselves, given enough time and changing situations.
Pdoc - I so envy you your dipper We don't get them around here - wrong sort of rivers Do you keep a record of the birds you see? I keep meaning to start one .... Now put your feet up - mine are up in front of a recorded Miss Marple (the real one ) and I have my knitting on the go. I'll get OH to make us a cuppa in a little while ..... he's fixing up some new shelving in the studio ..but he's assembling it in the sitting room and the way to the studio is via the kitchen, so unless I sit on the sofa I'm in danger of being clonked with a piece of angle-iron ... well, that's my excuse anyway
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
I'm glad you are feeling a bit better DD. Please take it easy. I hope the B&B gives you a bit of a break.
2 of my brothers never send Christmas cards, they are both divorced, so no wives to do it either. They never ring or write either. If I didn't ring them I wonder if we'd lose touch. My sister isn't that good at keeping in touch either, yet my mother was a prolific letter writer and rang me 2 or 3 times a week.
Have made a lemon tart and a chocolate mousse for tonight, table is set. Should say tables, 2nd one for the children. Having roast beef, several veg.
Jo, have you ever been to Beth Chatto's garden? We went in the summer, lovely.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
The hills will be there for another day though. The rain was lashing and it wasn't for stopping - and that's before you get near the hill. It's the way it is. I'll maybe watch the Agatha Christie thing now - I've seen the first bit.
Should we whisper for KEF do you think?
DD - re your family - it's none of my business but I can tell how much it hurts you. Being unwell does make it seem worse but - b******s to the lot of 'em if that's how they want to be. We're here for you whenever you need a bit of a lift
Here's the little Pentlands dipper if you want one
I should have some lunch now that I've put on goulash for dinner

Just ordered more heating oil. Almost didn't check it but I'm not sure it'd last the whole of next month.
We came home from 3 months in India to find the central heating was off and all my orchids had died and it took days for the house to properly warm up. Don't want that to happen again.
DD, look after yourself. I have 2 brothers with whom I have no contact. I know how it feels, but , for me, once I accepted that was the way it was going to be, I was able to move on.
KEF, I can't remember what day it is either... I blame it on having my brain filled with babble from grandchildren, all about what Peppa Pig's house needs to look like, or why the new digger needs driving backwards. (Though it could conceivably just be old age, I suppose )
DD - don't push yourself too hard! I'm sure the B&B visitors will be understanding.
Hard luck with the weather, Fairy & Jo. We've had a nice morning but it's going downhill now - SIL (who runs ultra marathons, the loony!) did a 2hr fell run this morning and said it was lovely, sunny but fresh. The upper valley is drying out nicely, probably just in time for the next storm
They're back. Better be sociable!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Thanks all, sorry, just got it bad today and OH is totally oblivious which make me feel all the more lonely. I know it's for the best really, sister did just used to make me feel completely inadequate, it's just at Christmas and being ill it all sort of fell in on me. Don't get all worried about me but I went on a self help site and ended up reading some threads on there, made me realise how silly I am being, some people are really, really in desperate situations. I am going to do a mountain of i*****G now whilst watching rubbish on TV, that'll give me something to feel sorry for myself about.
Lovely pic Fairy, Kef, take care of that back, that was a silly move wasn't it. Lizzie, enjoy your evening, and thanks again for all the support, glad it isn't just me who has difficult siblings, sorry that sounds a bit selfish but I hope you know what I mean.

Know how you feel DD, but I'm not going to say more, just that it's heartbreaking
Glad poorly peeps are enduring. I have OH's stinky cold and I was only saying last week how I never get the snotty nose bit . Oh well could be worse, at least I'm not at work until the weekend
Walk around the garden today revealed a lot of confused plants. Clematis breaking buds, Geums in full flower, roses with new growth, box balls desperate to flower and alliums poking through 4 inches tall!

Thanks for dipper photo I've never seen one.
Jo your book sounds lovely I'll Google it.
Lizzie any chance of squeezing another around the table
edit for two as Dove might not get into her kitchen
Am I the only one who thinks today is Sunday?
Bravo to those who have had to go back to work, or have worked over Christmas.
