We had a wonderful 2 weeks in Arisaig a couple of years ago (abt 30 mins south of Mallaig) & have spent many holidays around Arnamurchan / Ullapool / Applecross - most of the Highlands really. It is absolutely my favourite part of the world - just love it .
The weather has usually been OK too - which some people find surprising. So long as you have waterproofs & a hat & gloves you're well prepared. Had a 2 week sailing holiday off the west coast in September a few years ago. Spent every day in T shirts and shorts watching dolphins and porpoises (evenings were a little chilly but a drop of the single malt sorted that out!)
Did you do the boat trip across to the pub at Inverie Bushman? We had rather a good lunch there... We also did the ferry to Eigg & Rhum which was a grand day out.
Happy Days
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
It's been cool and damp here all day - the temp hasn't risen much above 10C - but I've been in the kitchen stirring chutney again, so I've been nice and warm This is another batch of tomato and chilli.
Next on the list will be apple and sage chutney, and then my Harvest Festival chutney made of whatever is availabe - in the village where I used to live the church would sell off all the fruit and veg that had decorated the church at the farvest festival, to raise money for charity and every year I'd buy loads of stuff and make chutney out of it. Some of it we'd sell to raise money for the playgroup which I ran, some would be given as presents, and the rest would line the shelves of my pantry, gradually disappearing as the year moved on
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
SgLily thank you for pointing me in the direction of Fidget's lovely wedding photos
I went to see DD this afternoon, we had a nice long chat. Her garden is still looking lovely and she gave me a bag of walnuts and an apple. The apple was for my horse, Lena, who I've lent to a 16yr old girl and now lives on the way home from DD.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Hi all. Sorry if this post's a little tear stained. I've been crying since I came home to find cheques from some fantastic people on this forum. You all know who you are.
You're just brilliant, and you've no idea how much it means to me to have had your support xxx
Oldest fairylet is organising the pix of Pudsey's (and Fairy's ) outing to the Pentlands, for a slide show, so I hope to have that ready tomorrow or Thursday to put on here.
Maybe Thursday as that's my birthday - 21 again - and there may even be cake!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Woo hoo! That reminds me Fairy, I must do my transfer . . . need to find the widget that will let me do it . . . . . now where did I leave it. . . . . .
You'll have to ask oldest fairylet Verd - she'll probably make it
Or I might have to make it myself if she's not back from Uni... I made a nice choccy loaf tin cake when we went our hols. With fudgy choccy icing
Panda
T'bird - I got a nice pic across to Arisaig when we were away, and Ullapool is a a special place for me. I did a thread with some of our pix. If I'm brave I might put a pic on of me skimming stones there...
Glad you had a good time B'man. Nothing to beat our country when the sun shines...or sets

Excellent weather today in the south west. I dropped off the top tier to diving friends in Hayle, then went to Trebah. Not many people there and gorgeous weather. Last night we had fish and chips at the rum and crab shack in St Ives. It took longer than usual to get here as an accident on M1 meant they shut it at our junction, and main roads around were gridlocked for fifty miles radius. It took two hours to do the 50minute run to Birmingham..
Tomorrow we go to st austell unless Verdun would like some chocolate cake.
