  • Thank you for the information Lilly, I will look them up. Also thanks to others for kind words.

Verdun, upset as we are your terrible news does put things into perspective a bit, he is only a dog. Poor girl and poor family, such a terribe, terrible shame.

Not sure what to say to you all. Wanted to offer best wishes to Bushman as he's been through the mill, and Pat as she's still having a rough time, but I then read DD's post and, even though I'm not a doggy person at all, I immediately felt so sad for her - such a horrible situation. Then I read Verd's post....

I know it can't help in a physical way, but I'm thinking of you all trying to cope with your different issues and, yet again, wishing I had a real wand.

Life can be very, very difficult to understand sometimes.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

So sad to read your post Verdun, there really isn't anything I can say.

DD I know how much you loved Shadow.  I just hope that he can be rehomed successfully.

I'm so sorry DD and Verdun. Sometimes life can be so sad. When I came back from holiday I was reading back and laughing, now I feel more like crying. That young man's family - how awful for them, but I hope a home can be found for Shadow. But even if it can DD will still be sad without him. What rotten things to happen.

  • Life is so horrible sometimes, we had such a lovely day yesterday, it was idyliic and now all these awful things happen.

The rescue people we got Shadow from have been in touch and have been very helpful. They are keen to support me in a court case against the farmer but I am afraid my heart isn't in it - he did scare the sheep, I did let him out of my sight and he was wandering unchecked on private property. They have said they might be able to find a foster family for him, maybe,  but what an awful shock for him, he has been so loved and cherished here. A momentary lapse in concentration and this happens. Another friend has told me to have him destroyed, she says he has a killer instinct in him now and will just do it again. So hard to see that when you look into his big sad brown eyes right now.

Charlie, bless him, in the simple way kids look at life has suggested we get a very small dog with little legs so he could never catch a sheep. We have told him (whatever happens) Shadow is going to a new family with no sheep nearby. His biggest concern is that they will give him a new name and he won't know who he is anymore.

Lizzie, I have been meaning to ask how your poor dog was doing, he was quite poorly last time we heard but coping well. Hope you had a nice holiday.

  • Just had an e-mail from Lilly's contact in Scotland - they might be able to help. Do you think us Forkers could do a dog shuffle all the way up to Scotland??

  • Jo thank you for that hug, so need it right now. Sorry you have had heartache too, I know it's only a dog but my word they do pull at the heart strings.
