Hello all and welcome back Fairy, sounds like an idyllic holiday.
Clari make the most of your last day off.
Having a lazy day here, guests didn't even come down until after 10am so put everything on hold anyway. Had a little mooch around a vide grenier but only found one little bud vase I liked. Have had lunch, croque monsieur and little bit (well quite little) of last nights Mexican chocolate cake and now off for my well deserved nap. Hope I don't end up messing my body clock up like Hosta's.
Catch you all later.

Gosh Rb - that was a lot of digging, lifting etc. Hooe you don't get stiff after that. Nice pic - just need to scratch my ears, eyebrows and head. The midges love the damp, mild days best. Early morning and evening they dance around in clouds. They tend to disappear in hot sun, gale force winds or when it's very cold.
You're in the right place to get slate jo. I've not had bubble and squeak for years but I've never heard of having it on toast. Watch out for the cats when it squeaks
It looks great sunk on it's edge into the ground with plants in between.Think chicky did a sink like that. I saw a pic of a path done that way, but without the plants. It looked stunning, although I'm not sure you could walk on it without sturdy footwear!
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Oh, you lot! You lift my spirits every time I have a read.
Dove, yes did try some yoghurt a couple of days ago, but pain around liver and nausea put a stop to that. Might try another brand next time I go to the shops. Today is the first day without the pain. Fingers crossed That it is progressing in the right direction. Don't want to tell the Dr because all they want to do is scan and other such things and then experimenting with medications in case they work! Darn it.
Hubby is on to the BBC Proms thing, but said that he can't record it for later viewing, it has to be seen there and then. Will try to find a time when we catch up with some other viewing.
sorry can't remember all, but wish you all well and had a good day. Loved the little buggy things!
Just a brief pop-in cos I'm supposed to be somewhere else
Re slate on edge: they've got some great planters in the Alpine area at Harlow Carr, using slate (and in one case, roof tiles) on edge, with little plants in the gaps. Looks fab.
I'd love to copy the Edwin Lutyens-designed paths in a garden in Northumberland we visited when I was a horticultural student (ah, just remembered the name - Blagdon Hall), but my garden's not suitable. He used red roof tiles and natural slate, set on edge in patterns, to make "punctuation marks" in some of his paths. Really stylish. (The garden was magnificent with lots of follies and a huge arboretum, but I don't think it's often open to the public.)
Right. Better go before I get shouted at...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Pat, that sounds as if the bug has been tough on your live r- you need to let it rest and avoid fats for a little while - so make sure it's skimmed yoghurt. Good luck
It's turned cooler here with a little light drizzle. NDN came around to see where the hedgehog food is kept etc. She'll help herself to raspberries, grapes and runner beans etc while we're away She took a big bowl of raspberries away with her - her parents are coming to tea - she's going to make them a raspberry trifle. It's such a small world - we found out when we moved here that her mother grew up in Suffolk in the next village to me and her grandfather had a greengrocery business and her Uncle Billy used to deliver fresh vegegtables etc to our village - I remember him well
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Watching Bake Off - again. Bad idea - I've eaten rather a lot of cake this week. I made a couple to take with us, but the lovely people who own the cottage we rented leave a pint of milk and home made cakes for the holidaymakers as well !
I really must go back next year..

Didn't see you there Lesley - yes I waved my wand for the whole week - no midges either
RB - there's evidence of me stone skimming too - but I'm not daft enough to put it on here
Had to go out and retrieve the washing as the normal Scottish weather has returned! It's more or less dry though
I have to revise what I said about my Acteas Verd- they're still only in bud
Foxgloves normally flower around June/July here, so they were flowering as normal. Do they really flower in spring down south?
Just having some lunch - eating my first, and only, ripe tomato!

Or you could get a sledge for wintertime Jo...
Think I'd agree with hubby Pat. There are some things that have to be viewed live
