I'm sure there are lots of similar stories, but my thoughts and heart with you. My late daughters father in law had a similar problem,  his wife (daughters mother in law) spent an afternoon having a lovely conversation with him one day in the home where he was residing, and at the end of the day, he turned to her and said, what does your husband do for a living?   They had been married for about 60 years. She told me that the only thing she could do was laugh to herself - no good crying. At least you have a lovely place to go after your visit to heal yourself.

I do make Scotch Eggs Bushman, but if I'm visiting Ma I often pop in at a local deli and pick up one of these http://www.handmadescotcheggs.co.uk/scotch-egg-menus/handmade-scotch-eggs/Black- watch-pudding- scotch-egg

Fritillary, I must admit that my oft used fall back for planting ideas is usually herbs. They are so hardy as well as useful. I hope you give it a try. Once you start. You'll have plenty of self seeded ones to increase your little hedge.

Bushman. Hello again after so long. Yes it's now a bit after 5pm here and I've had an eventful day even though the weather is horrible. When the clouds lift tomorrow, I expect to see snow on the surrounding hills. Our national capital, Canberra, got it today - first time since 2006.  That should cool the visiting politicians down.  They come from all over the country to represent their various locations, and are not usually in such cold weather!

Great minds think alike - We make dragon's eggs too image  There must be more dragons about than we were led to believe as children!!!

I sometimes use a game mixture to wrap eggs, and also like making them with smoked haddock and potato instead of a meat wrapping - OH sells quails eggs at the farm shop so I sometimes make them with those - fiddly to shell but as long as they're not too fresh it's not too bad image

Hi Pat, sounds like Scotland over there with all the snow etc. I have a cousin who lives in perth and he and his family were over visiting a few years back. The kids had never seen snow and were mesmerised when it did. they stood outside just watching the snow fall. Sometimes its just the little things that bring a smile to your face image
