Morning all. esp Chicky , more hugs from me.

Kinda nice out. lots of clouds , but also lots of breaks to let the sun through.

Laundry drying nicely in the , now toasty hot, conservatory.

Need to strip the bed and get it in the wash before the cleaner comes so she can re-make it.

Just realised I've no bread. Off to Waitrose.

    Catch up later.

BTW I have " tops off" envy. A friend is selling his old mercedes slk as he's just bought a new one. I'm very tempted.

    Devon.

    Morning all!

Very best wishes to Mr Chicky for tomorrow - and to you too, Chicky.  Stay strong - he'll soon be fighting fit!  x

Pat, sorry I didn't reply about the trains last night, but I'd gone to bed.  I have a "senior railcard" which gives a third off normal prices, and if I book well in advance, and choose particular trains at unpopular times, I can get to Northumberland and back for around £25, which compares well with the cost of going by car.  Crossing the Pennines by car in winter is not always to be recommended...

Hosta, I agree totally about the dancing girls and other distractions.  But I thought their singing was fab!

Re soft top cars: I've never really been tempted, particularly since an early Cavalier with a leaky sunroof.  Back seat passengers in winter had to negotiate sheet ice in the footwell.  image

Bulbs still remain unplanted, and today the rain is relentless.  I'm off to sort Mum's books; she doesn't read any more, but these are beautiful flower and bird books, bound for her by my late father, and she loves looking at them.  image  I can extract any without pictures now - her new room is slightly smaller than the current one, so we need to "downsize" a little.

    See you later!

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Nice car Hosta - we rented one of those in Italy when we were driving round the mountains - very, very nice indeed.... Go on - you only live once image

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down

Hosta, not the singing of the dancing girls...  image

Morning all, very heavy rain here and dark image

Chicky hugs and best wishes for a swift recovery to Mr. Chicky x

Liri hope you don't feel too sad during the "downsize"  jobs.

I'll be back later when I've done my HW imageimage

Feeling slightly off balance. Dinner was really tasty and I managed a second helping image, and then flopped on the lounge with HRH gently snoring beside me while Hubby cleaned up the kitchen after his cooking effort, and I promptly fell asleep.  Only woke up when he turned the volume up on one of our favourite shows. Ahem.

Chicky, my thoughts are with you and OH. If everyone's good wishes have any power, he'll be bouncing around in no time. So worrying for you both. Keep your chin up, he'll need you to be positive for him.

I can't comment on topless cars. Tempting though.  The next episode of "the great Australian bake off" has just started. They're cooking biscuits. Yum. Catch you all later.image

    Liri, re SoP.

They would have been worthy runners up. Even the judges mentioned " tuning and enunciation issues"

    CS wuz robbed.

  • Chicky good to see you, you sound very positive and so you should, all very fixable. image Just hope you OH doesn't get his grumpy head on like mine, we've been walking on eggshells for days here. Hoping he will settle soon, think he was more afraid then he acknowledged and this is his way of letting off steam - I would have been far more empathetic to a few tears though. image

When me and 1st OH separated I bought a soft top, had great fun with it, loved driving around with my 'top off' celebrating new found freedom. However after a big skid down a snowy hillside I realised it wasn't the right car for the hilly Yorkshire Dales. image

Got a hire car today as OH off to UK for two days. Charlie on school hols and didn't want to drag him to airport and back twice in 2 days. Did ask OH if I could have one of the snazzy ones - "uhm no" he said. image Luckily the Smart car he had planned for me was unavailable - phew. image

Love Bake Off Pat, enjoy, hope your version doesn't get them doing some of the silly things our poor contestants had to do. image

    Catch you all later. image

Hi DD. It's early days yet, only episode 2 but the two females who are the helpers (not the chefs) are already driving me crazy. They are trying to behave like the two you have on your version, even down to the stupid tone of voice they use and trying without success to be humorous. Bah!  I guess we will continue to watch it though because Hubby likes baking and finds it interesting. I'm more of a top of the stove cook - not oven.image
