This heat seems to have scrambled peoples brains. We thought we had had a bad morning until the local surgery said they had called an ambulance three times (for different people) this morning.
Take it easy folks, drink plenty of water and don't forget the hedgehogs water as well.
What time does judging take place tomorrow Wonky? I'll be waiting with bated breath as I already have a favourite in the competition.
I feel sorry for Fidget and all the others who have to work in this heat. At least the rest of us can pace ourselves.
Went shopping for Dad's birthday present and found two nice shirts as I know he wants a new one for the wedding they've been invited to. He wanted green. Only one shop out of the seven I visited had one and I bought white as well. Came home to a phone call from Mum telling me he has bought his shirt this morning. Back to the b....y shops again tomorrow. Perhaps a wee stint in the garden will make it all better.
Had some bother with dentists, discovered that I may have had some unpleasant, unnecessary work done. so stopped going. Then NDN was moaning about his dentist and a major health problem that he had as a result of dentist. Turns out was same one as we went to, so he shopped around and found a new one, we have tried them and all so much more relaxed and pleasant and kind.
Hot here again, some rain yesterday, but not a lot - no thunder, hail or anything adverse.
I have been dead heading flowers everywhere as in 1 year 3 weeks time will be wedding and I need to know what I can rely on to flower and what I may as well give up on. Later I will cut all flowers from cutting garden as we are going away on monday and i need to know which will come back and which are a waste of space
Hello all. Busy morning at work and then tried to get daughter's 'photo' birthday cake when I took her to work, but couldn't because she insisted on coming round the shop with me Will have to go back later for it . I've done her a Stars and Stripes/ Fourth of July rosette for tomorrow though
Don't really want to mention cake Verd - but a sponge cake with lemon curd and a little buttercream or whipped cream is a favourite with me
chicky - the critics are going mental about how dreadful the highlights show is and they're right. They should be done under the Trades Description Act...
Would like to watch the tennis too but it's sunny and I'm home from work....will have to nip in and out
Lesley
Nanny B ...although it has a very good macro thingy so I can take close ups of the new shoots when they emerge
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Afternoon all been tidying all day but too hot for a womble right now so taking a little break to watch gardening shows and catch up with you all!
Verdun, don't like ya chances against those cakes! Isn't that one looking at you?
Judging day is tomorrow morning at 10am! So gonna be gardening by torchlight tonight!
I've got a favorite in the completion too Lesley! Wish it was my garden oh well its changed a lot in three months that's for sure and I'm proud of it! Be much better next year tho when its all established.
Matty, its the London road in bloom competition. I live in Ipswich and after the murders which all was focused right outside my door, the community has tried to improve community spirit with events such as this and a carol singing tour by torchlight at Christmas. Its just nice to join in as I have lived here fifteen years!
I will take pictures in a little while and post them Matty, thanks for the encouragement folks!
Just seen a new (to me) black and white flutterby - consulted my i-spy ladybird book () and it is a White Admiral . Book says its food is honeysuckle - and guess what i have just found growing out from behind our wisteria - and flowering to boot
Verdun, I won't breath a word! and as its a medical compulsion perhaps we could look into getting you prescription sweet baked goods on NHS? I believe if its incurable the prescription is free for your whole life!
Gonna fire up the BBQ, veggie parcels in foil, with some fish and bits of nibbles maybe test the fire put before I cement in position!
Thanks for the well wishes, Fairy and Chicky, will take pics later
