  • Morning all.

Raining this morning and quite dark.

On the news today they are talking about the plastic bag charge. They are only mentioning the supermarket bags. Clothes shops are charging too, perhaps they could wrap up delicate items in tissue paper for a bit of protection.  Agree with Verdun, the people that litter streets etc will still do so.

Hope all poorly peeps are feeling better.

    Fidget, I like both sorry.

Have a good day whatever your up too.

    Stay warm and dry.

Morning all - waiting for some rain - hope we'll get some as the ground is now very dry (no rain for abt 4 weeks) & I did quite a bit of planting over the weekend.

Hope your arm is feeling a little better DD - can't you just have a day of not doing anything? Have youheard how Shadow is settling in at his new home?

Pat - lovely pics - so nice to be reminded what I need to plan / plant for Spring.

P'doc - when we were having 'issues' with our previous neighbours I spent hours plotting my revenge. The most effective thing I did was to tell another neighbour (very good friend) that we'd had enough & were moving.

She went round (unknown to me) & gave him a right earful - reminding him of all the reasons we were good neighbours & how much we contributed to our small community & telling him he had driven us out with his thoughtless behaviour.

He came round & apologised... but we still left.

Sold the (semi detached) house to somebody with a 2 yr old (tantrums & teens to come) and a baby on the way (night crying / 6am wake up calls) and they park all over the shared drive & do nothing towards communal maintenance.

Revenge is very, very sweet !

  • We are quite lucky in our village jo, we don't see bags in trees etc. And there are 'bins' for 'doggy' bags. But hopefully everywhere will see a difference. Doesn't take much to 'keep Britain tidy' image Its chewing gum on pavements, under tables, on bus seats etc that annoys me.image

... and why do smokers seem to think that just grinding out & dropping their tab ends wherever they happen to be standing / walking is OK? Even when they are stood right next to a fag disposal bin? image

Topbird, good advice and I agree about smokers, even though I am one. It is all of our responsibility to clear up after ourselves.

Thorntons for me fidget, but just the chewy ones please, or the cherry ones.

    Morning all.

    Whew , marathon read back.

    I've had a message re

    image

the bird, I clearly have no notion at all, but you guys are all pretty sure it's a Merlin. The message I've had is that a Merlin should have a black moustache.

The photo in my book is more like a sparrowhawk than a Merlin. I'd love to know for sure.

Might you be kind enough to have another look for me?

    Forgetting my manners.

I hope poorly peeps are improving, those unhappy at work find new ones and those with poorly relatives are coping too.

I'm waiting for " the phone call" re the father of one friend , and the mother of another.

    Getting old is rubbish.

    A right dreech morning here.
