    Thanks Dove.

After much pausing the video and going back to the photo: I know it's NOT a peregrine or a kestel.

    Is that progress?

I'd love it to be a Merlin.

    Hi Hosta

The only other candidate to my mind is a sparrowhawk, and I think a) your bird's eye isn't sufficiently yellow, and b) its posture is much more "hunched" than a sparrowhawk.

I'd say Merlin... but as I said I've never seen one.

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I have had another look and as a very amateur bird watcher, I am fairly certain it is not a sparrowhawk.

I have seen Merlin and I think that is what it is.

How can you lie there and think of England

yeah jo, why don't birds turn face on when you've got a camera? They're so selfish.

I'd say it was maybe a wee bit bigger than a collared dove. It was 2 days ago remember and I'm very old.

I know juvenile birds often display different behaviour / plumage to adults, which doesn't help either.

    Afternoon all image

My last Monday lie in for a while image Have been up for some time, not just up btw image

Contract has been signed and emailed back image OH's toe nails have been cut image

Fidget, I wouldn't mind which choccies, mint are more "traditional" so you should go for the Thorntons - would fit in better.  Have some time for brass polishing if you need some help image

Hosta, can't comment on the bird identification, but I hope it turns out as you want.

Getting my nails done this afternoon, am embarrassed though as my nails are shocking image Need something bright and cheerful (am off to a funeral tomorrow) and professional (for work). Hope there is enough room in the kitchen what with the oven on the floor! image

Hope you all have a good day, weather has def turned here image
