Think Lily is hiccupping from a few weeks ago But good to see you back again anyhow
Had a wonderful day weeding ....not often you hear me say that. Normally it is not one of my favourite tasks, but today the sun was shining the birds were singing and it was lovely to get up close to all my plants and see how much they are growing away. Bit sore now - time for a slumpy evening
The most boring chore can be made so pleasant when it's peaceful and you're surrounded by birdsong and sun. Was thinking that today myself as I walked back along the reservoir to my car - loads of wildlife and lovely views.
Ain't life grand sometimes
Hailstones and sleet here now though!
Putting my feet up soon too - after a shower and a bowl of soup
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Aching after a morning run (getting good at this fitness lark, well doing it anyway).
Hasnt stopped me in the garden though, wearily tidied away the spring bulb planters and dragged some others into place (can't go on like this, must have another plan than moving pots every season). Tidied the GH which had become a shed instead! Moved patio furniture. Sat and enjoyed garden from new bifold doors, whilst nursing a suspected pulled muscle in calf and wondering why that cat thinks it lives here .
OH tells me we are off for another bike ride tomorrow. Yikes! Help!
Another marathon day 9am - 7.30pm Raised beds in tunnels filled with topsoil, after couch grass roots removed. grrr. Very irate phone call to suppliers who've asked me to call back on Monday, to " resolve the issue" I'm looking for a massive refund.
The latest on " waterfowl watch". There's good and bad news.
Much commotion with Canada Geese earlier ( too busy to investigage ) but they flew off around 4 pm and have not returned. No sign of babies.
Mrs Mallard still has 2 babies, growing nicely.
Mrs Mallard No 2 has appeared with 6 babies, very small.
And Mrs Coot, who has never produced anything, has 6 babies too.
On balance, I can live without the geese.
OH in bath, Chinese takeaway ordered .
Work tomorrow at 7am . boo hiss.
Enjoy the rest of the evening / weekend one and all.
Hosta - you put most of us to shame with your efforts. Hope the soil issue gets resolved and all the little ducklets and cootlets are ok. Early night for you
Take it easy too MrsG -you've had a busy day too and the aches get a bit easier!
Off to catch up with all the stuff I've recorded. Catch you all tomorrow

Busy day in the garden today, started at 9.30 and came in at 5.30. Feeling shattered but very satisfied.
Lots of pots filled, some planted. Have also planted wisteria, pyracantha and choisya White Dazzler. Have started to empty the greenhouse cleome, ammi majus and chocolate cosmos gone in but still have loads to plant out.
5 days of guides sounds like hard work Panda. I have enough trouble keeping up with a couple of grandchildren. Don’t give up on the Roscoea yet, mine didn’t show until June last year
Hope the physio has helped hosta and the knee improves.
Busy, you are going to need a holiday after the open day. Hope you feel better soon.
Glad you enjoyed your trip Liri, I saw some beautiful dark purple trilliums at Harlow Carr but don’t think I have the right place for them.
Yvie, it sounds as if you've filled every minute since your Nanna duties finished, with gardening! Can't say I blame you. It's very therapeutic (as they told us on GW yesterday) and definitely "un-frazzling".
Re the trilliums: I find it really hard to persuade myself it's not worth trying certain plants which I love, because I haven't got the right place for them. But my garden is pretty small so I really have to listen to myself... Better a happy plant in the right place, than a beautiful specimen languishing in the wrong spot, dying a slow death.
Fairy, I agree dandelions are much worse to remove than hairy bitter cress. But I'm just amazed at the speed the HBC grows, from minuscule green speck to tiny plant covered in seed heads ready to pop all over the surrounding soil,
I've been doing a "balsam bash" on the area around the steps near my house. Himalayan balsam is a problem along the canal, but has only encroached on the steep slope next to the steps in the past 2 years. Last week I pulled up a dozen seedlings growing in the steps themselves - only another 100m and they'll be spreading into my garden... Very pretty but unstoppable once it gets seeding around.
Well - I'm singing in a concert tomorrow so I'd better get some beauty sleep. Night all!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Morning all. 5.45 alarm on a Sunday is never welcome.
Tired after yesterday's efforts but the knee has held out and isn't causing any pain.
Looking forward to starting planting in tunnels tomorrow when I'm off work.
Enjoy Sunday.
Good morning
Have a good rest at work today Hosta after yesterday's marathon
. thanks for the update on the wildfowl. It's a bit like a soap opera
.
It's been pouring down here so, again, not much will get done. Family coming for a late lunch so am making a huge curry and chilling the beer
Have a good day
.
