Hello everyone. Too many to separate out, but best wishes to those with problems. jo, I wish I'd had that bored symbol when I was sick and I imagine you've got some birds that are very much NOT bored. Lilyp, did you eventually definitely identify the hole as a rat hole, or are you still trying to work out what it is? Dordogne, did your hiker come out smelling sweetly? That thought would put me off from having guests in the house! Hosta, I can identify with the labels. I used to work in a small nursery and ended up buying about 1000 labels and I'm still using them years later. I still clean used ones though. It's a bit of a task, but worth it. Lirio, how's OH going with the walking? We've had a few TV programs lately all about health type issues - sugar, fat, exercise, etc. etc. I always watch them, but am beginning to think they are flogging a dead horse with many viewers. I tried to convince our daughter to watch them, but she'd rather stick to her favourite take-aways and cigarettes. Oh well, you can only lead a horse to water .......
We've had light rain on and off all night and so far today (1pm) - only 4mm in gauge, so I'm having a quiet day. Hubby is off somewhere looking at a site with the local fire captain for a planned burn off on Sunday. I've got my doubts about the area being dry enough, but they like their games. I might add that this is the second Fathers Day Sunday that the captain has arranged some work. Typical!
Yviestevie I can't get your Mum out of my mind. It must be so hard for you and your family with everything that is going on. I hope things improve soon.
I do hope that things are improving for Yvie and her family ((hugs))
SGL, it's a nearly two hour train ride to London from here, but then you have to get across London to wherever you're going - I used to do it all the time when OH was at Chelsea Art School, but at least I had somewhere to stay free overnight and not just doing a daytrip. If we go to London to see galleries etc nowadays it can get a bit costly so we don't do it as often as we'd like.
Still, if we plan ahead for a trip next year .................. I'm wondering whether early May would be a good time, Azealeas and Rhodos out as well as daffs and tulips?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Morning Pat, DD and anyone else who's appeared since I looked!
Can't believe I'm on here so early... normally I do all my chores etc first and pop in when everything's shipshape. But this morning OH has left on an early morning jaunt. He managed to get an "unlimited free travel" ticket out of Northern Rail as compensation for some truly awful treatment he got on a journey in January, so he's spending all day exploring the north-west - and I've popped on the computer, JUST to check the forecast (washing blankets from holiday cottage), you understand...
Hope the eye's better this morning Yvie, daughter's swollen arm is improving and Mum's been x-rayed. Hang on in there!
Pat, OH is sticking to the daily walk so far, because he can already see the benefits. He was having trouble sitting down slowly because his knees gave way, and that's definitely improved. He was quite sceptical to start with, that anything could be done about his knees (he played a lot of sport in his youth) - and of course, anything his wife had to say about strengthening supporting muscles in his legs fell on deaf ears...
Right. Where's that weather forecast?
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

Ooh, forgot to say - thanks for all the runner bean suggestions! I'll investigate them for next year.

Morning all,
Backpacker who is walking across the whole of Europe is an early riser, I suppose it is a long way.
Think I might have a sneak back to bed when he is gone, long time since I got up in the dark.
Catch you all later.
And yes Pat, he had had a wash.
Good, DD. I hope you get your extra sleep in.
Morning all
. Hope you have sent hiker off with his rucksack, and have managed to sneak back to bed DD
Sending ((hugs)) for Yvie and her family - hope you all start recovering soon, OH gets a date and they start taking some proper care of Mum(

Lizzie - hope the antibiotics work their magic, and DavidK - always plenty of room in this canteen of cutlery
Would love a Kew trip if there was enough notice to get a day off work booked in

Good morning all
I do hope that things are improving for Yvie and her family ((hugs))
