Dog trainer sounds like a good idea, will see what/who I can find. I am just hoping I can wear him out and distract him from the idea. No guests in now until Friday (so far) so lots of time to keep him occupied, but obviously very worried.

Good morning, a wet and dull morning, no wind tho which for us is something.
DD very sorry to hear of your problem with young Shadow. He has been having a fair old time of it recently hasn't he? We have a field and there are 4 ewes in it with their lambs. Our dogs get ball throwing every day and nobody bothers with anyone else.
This is how we did it. With farmers permission (he will like that you are taking steps) take Shadow in a long lead into the field. Shorten the lead to tight and walk round the perimeter several times. Each time you pass or approach a sheep and he moves from normal walk yank his lead with a firm "no" as he behaves you loosen the lead, tighten and yell No when he makes to move from your side. This may well take you several days. Try about an hour at a time, treats ONLY when he behaves
we were given this training tip from a shepherd when we moved here 10 years ago
Shadow is young enough to learn and it will work if you can devote the time. Collars are banned here in the UK now good luck!
primrosecottage am so glad to here your woofie doing well.
off the pot up my herbs which have all germinated nicely, cosmos looks good too
have a good day everyone

Good morning. Wet and cold again and so's the weather.
DD what a nightmare. LilyP's advice seems very sound and is certainly worth a try. I have just watched the repeat of last week's Countryfile and they were training search and rescue dogs to ignore sheep using the same type of techniques.
Had a good night at a birthday party and actually feel quite human this morning. Quiz night next week so I'll see if I can do it again.
Morning all. Wet here too, but I hope it clears up enough to plants some things in the veggie garden so I can put more plants to harden off in the cold frames so I can make some room in the GH to plant tomatoes.
LilyP's advice sounds good. Have you offered the farmer compensation for his sheep? Best to stay on the right side of local farmers.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Sorry to hear about Shadow DD, lilyP's advice sounds good. Reminds me of that woman on tv (names escapes me at the mo) years ago she had the dogs in order in no time. Hugs for you DD you've had a bad few days.
Hosta......going on hols......you don't need a garden....er I mean house sitter do you? Have a lovely hols
Not sure what we are up to today....OH did mention something about Chelsea playing this afternoon
Nice and wet out there, but forecast to clear up shortly. Like everyone else, we needed the rain. Plan to get my sweetpea seedlings in the ground today, and plant up some of my recent purchases. Everything looking very fresh and green out there - we have lost sight of the neighbours, and won't see them again til December (unless we pop round of course)
just been offered another cuppa and a bacon and fried egg sandwich ....would have been rude to refuse
DD, I am a big fan of a TV show called The Dog Whisperer (), it's American and often on one of our cable channels. He does amazing things with dogs and what LilyP has suggested is the kind of thing he does. Don't know if he's online - Ceasar Milan - but worth checking? He's also not bad to look at Hope it gets sorted - not what you need at all!
rainy here too And also pretty brrrrr. Had heating on last night, hoping I don't have to again today.

Verdun will be getting a visit from Charlie boy if he's not careful, with all those Cornish connections.

Morning all. Sat here waiting for some gardening weather! Hmmm, turned heating on instead
. Even GC weather would do.
DD, what a trying time for you, I recommend gin (for Shadow of course)
Hosta, £20 is pretty steep for Chatsworth, dont know if they do discounted days or groupon type stuff?
Sun trying to break through here. Have walked the garden and it's amazing how much the rain has bought on the plants even in this short time.
Morning all
