Hello Susie and Oh Dear!!!  image  You'd better make another cuppa image

I've posted some information on your thread on how to check your manure to see if it's been contaminated with aminopyralid. Hope it helps.

Morning fellow forkers,  Throwing it down here and very grey, not moaning though as the garden really needs it.  Supposed to clear up soon with just the odd light shower later.  Mmm not sure I believe that.

Haven't got anything planned apart from visiting mum later.  Enjoy you day everyone.

Morning from a very wet soggy spot in France. image

All a bit tense here at the moment. after the disaster with the jodhpurs Shadow has now caused even more trouble, only really serious this time. image A few days ago on a walk we unexpectedly came across a field of sheep, of course they ran and unfortunately Shadow chased them thinking it was great fun. No serious harm done but since then he has been desperate to get out and find them. Yesterday while I was at the plant sale a guest let him out by accident and he found the sheep, frightened them and one of them got itself trapped in a fence and the farmer has been and told me it has died. Of course the farmer was very cross understandably, said he will do nothing this time but next time there will be serious consequences. Now we are all desperately afraid it might happen again, Shadow is behaving like a dog possessed trying to get out and although we have a fenced garden I am sure if he was out there alone he would find an escape route.

We have given him three hour long walks on the lead since yesterday morning and as soon as the guests go today I am taking him to a local park for a good run around. He just seems to be on a mission to find these sheep and I am really afraid of what might happen.

OH has looked at an electric collar linked to perimeter fencing but all reports say they are no good. We are looking at a long leash that is attached to a post in the ground for outside but the biggest problem is when he is indoors, we have 5 French windows downstairs and it only needs one to get left open by mistake and he will be off. We can't see the sheep from here but he certainly knows where they are. image

Did get some lovely plants yesterday but with the rain and the worry of the dog not much hope of getting them in the ground today.

Hope you are all ok and the weather is better where you are. image

DD sorry to hear about your trouble with Shadow.  Are there any training schools nearby, maybe his curiosity would be satisfied if you could introduce him to sheep whilst he is on the lead.  It's difficult to ensure that he is only able to get outdoors under your control when you have guests popping in and out.  Hope you find a solution.

Thanks for your good wishes re mum KEF.  She is doing really well at the moment, sorting everyone else out and keeping the staff on their toes.

Dd - sorry to hear about Shadow - you must be so worried - I don't know what to suggest - we used to keep sheep and our dogs never troubled them because the horned ram terrified them (he was a nasty piece of work - he broke my thumb) - it was real Aversion Therapy in action.  Can a local dog trainer offer any advice?
