Hello, just back from 1st plant sale, 2nd one later this afternoon.
Didn't get much, a lot of what they had I already have, Geraniums, Stachys, foxgloves, tomatoes and lots of herbs. Did get a Tiarella cordifolia for a damp shady patch, a crevice loving white daisy kind of alpine, no name but owner explained it's likes and dislikes, a shub (Charlie insisted) I really don't need, again no name but lady said it has lovely reddish foliage in autumn and little berries, she also said the birds love it and it grows maximun 6 foot high, no idea where to plant it but it likes sun apparently. Also, one cucumber for the greenhouse, again Charlie insisted, didn't have much luck with them last year but worth a go, greenhouse will hopefully be emptyish soon.
That was just a charity sale, this afternoon is a proper nursery, celebrating 10 years of being open with prizes and bargains to be had, it says.
Enjoy your night out Panda, hope you won't be suffering tomorrow.
“Coffee. Garden. Coffee. Does a good morning need anything else?” —Betsy Cañas Garmon
I got rid of all my lawn for that reason (I know that's a bit impossible for you guys with larger gardens but I'd always choose gravel/stone if I could)
Nice to hear from you Bekkie, hope you're having fun
Just back from the GC because I needed a bag of ericaceous compost, trouble was they only had 50L bags so I now have stressed out shoulders from bundling my compost into my backpack and carrying it home
Some sticky labelled bedding plants also came home with me, including trailing Vernena and Biddens. Also some white pelargoniums and some white trailing stuff that I can't remember the name but it has an open simple flower with yellow centre and sort of Ivy foliage
Just in for a coffee and then improving drainage in my stone pot and changing the compost for my Forest Flame that has been suffering waterlogging all winter
Well done to get all that lot home Winter. Pdoc I don't have that problem as I can't start the mower so leave it to OH. Why not save up and get one of the robotic ones so you could get on with everything else.
Hope you manage to get to the GC Gboy.
I've only been to SM but managed to come home with another centaura Montana and agastache golden jubilee. Not sure how well the agastache will do here but for a £1 it's worth a shot.
Winter song! You are meant to be resting today NOT carrying compost in ruck sacks!!!!
your plants sound lovely and you did well DD and hope this afternoon is good too
Have a drink for me tonight panda and have a great time
hope you are ok RB xx
punk doc you are totally right and think you fully deserve to hire someone to do it for you, you men are just stubborn and won't let anyone do anything for you
took beau for a little walk this morning which was nice and we didn't get lost!

It's the kind that we had over the garage at gate house, Rubens it'smy nostalgia garden x
Ah yes, Clematis Montana Rubens - I've got one here as well, in the corner behind the biggest ash tree. No, leave the old flowers, they have a faded charm of their own and you'll get attractive seedheads - you might even find some babies growing next year
I've just had an electricity bill putting our monthly payment up from £91 per month to £362 per month Pick me up off the floor someone!!!
Thankfully I've just checked the meter and they've got the reading totally wrong - it's thousands of kilowatts out! I'm waiting for them to ring me back ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Just searched iplayer on TV for garden and found a garden programme called Anns a' Gharradh (in the garden) there are 5 of them, they mainly speak Gaelic I think Scottish programme BBC ALBA but have subtitles at bottom of screen, things are quite interesting - worth a look link below

Is it just me, or does anyone else hate mowing the lawn.
Just spent 2.5 hours of my life following the lawn mower round, looking at all the other jobs that needed doing and that I would much rather do.
