Morning Wonky - enjoy your un-accustomed weekend!!!
The National Grid man didn't even want a cup of coffee, and the boiler engineer had only just had his breakfast so all he wanted was a cup of tea. Just as well, we ate the rest of the cheese scones last night.
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Haha! Well that's a turn up for the books! The usual workmen expect homemade soup, biscuits and cake! don't blame them tho, your right Pat, Dove wins folks over with scrummy cooking! And I'm willing to let her!
Phew - it is el-scorchio here - 33.5C in my shed at the moment - thermometer in the shade - windows & door open all night.
Decided to knuckle down and do some jobs first thing so driveway & paths weedkilled (too breezy earlier in the week), south facing mini-border deadheaded and weeded, carrots, peas, courgettes and parsley picked for tonight, bed stripped and washing on, kitchen cleaned - so far.
Have come in for a cool down and cuppa then it's back out to do a bit of a tidy up in the veg beds and cut the grass.
By then it will be lunchtime and I am hoping to put my feet up in the shade with a good book and enjoy the rest of the day. Might have to 'accidentally' turn the sprinkler on for 30 secs when I'm near enough to get caught by it - nothing like a quick spritz of cold water on a hot day
Hope the rest of you enjoy your day although it does sound like a real east / west split today. Hope nobody has any problems from the forecast thunderstorms.
Runny - sorry to hear your news - shingles is a horrible disease - hope you aren't bothered by it for too long.
Pat - hope your OH is feeling better soon & I hope you're being strict with him about hand washing etc. I made my OH wipe loo, loo handle, door handles etc etc with a cloth wrung out in dilute bleach solution when he had it. Towels etc were also very strictly 'his and hers' and he wasn't allowed to touch anything in the kitchen till he was better.
SYL folks
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
You got off lightly there Dove - only liquid refreshments!
Are you needing a canoe yet Verd?
I'd get my coat, but I don't need it...yet
Grass to cut and odd jobs to do but the garden takes care of itself mostly which was the general idea. I'll need to go and buy more compost for the bulbs I accidentally acquired yesterday of course...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
OH is about to dig up 5 little clumps of Hosta Chinese Sunrise which are being crowded out. I'll take them into the tunnel and split them and repot.
Hopefully by next weekend we'll be able to label those in the ground which need splitting. Fingers crossed we don't have a chilly night and they lose their colour as happened last August.
The rain has stopped at last. Warm and humid.
Our friend who lost his lovely dog during the week has just called to ask if he can bury some of his ashes in our garden where he used to go and see the cows in the field next door. Cue massive blub from me.
