Funny, isn't it, how our conversations turn to food when we get miserable weather? I'd love to be in your house when you're baking chicky. Of course you can have an extra wish. It would be a shame to waste one.
Fairy it's amazing how the birds adapt to new feeders so quickly. At least yours have a fair chance of food now the starlings are excluded from that one. On Autumnwatch they showed starlings imitating the songs of other birds and reminded me of one which used to imitate our 'phone. Had me running in every five minutes
Nothing quite like that smell of cake and pudding cooking - fairylet made her cake a couple of weeks ago and it looks good
I chuck a bit of food over the fence at the side of the house for the magpies and starlings Lesley, so that I don't see the manky b***ers. I'm all heart...
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Afternoon - what a vile day outside - horizontal rain - blowing a hooley and leaves vortexing around all over the place. On the plus side I have a warm house, and a full log store and I don't have to go out.
Waiting for a WR delivery which should include a few bottles of discounted vino. Catching up with paperwork right now but thinking about snuggling up with with a jigsaw & a black & white movie (Rebecca & Brief Encounter maybe - all time faves - seen them both about 50 times..) in front of the fire with some chocolate.
OH away at the moment so had planned salad for dinner - having second thoughts at the moment - a nice hearty stew seems more appropriate.
...with dumplings...
Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
It took a while for some birds here to adapt to a new feeder. The robins were definitely left out, until the nuthatches arrived. The nuthatches cling to the house wall, then hop on the feeder. The robins do the same now.
I wish we had nuthatches here - lovely little birds. I was surprised at how happy the coal tits were sitting in the cage. They obviously felt safe. I used to have a feeder hidden in pyracantha next to the front door when I lived round the corner. The coal tits were very happy in there. Bigger birds wouldn't go in - or squirrels.
A nice stew of some kind would go down well here T'bird. cake and an old film would be good too. I have stuff recorded though - Scandi dramas
The only window in the grim weather here is tomorrow morning through Edinburgh way, so it's early to bed for me and off to the Pents again first thing. It'll still be poor but I need to get out or I'll get idle. Every shade of hellish on the hills everywhere, from rain, sleet, and snow to hail and lightning so it's the best I can do

Your bird feeders sound interesting FG - surrounded by squirrels here so a constant battle to find feeders that confuse them but still let the birds in. Last one got dragged off the tree 3 nights in a row so they could get in via the base.
I love those Scandi dramas - Arne Dahl tonight - not the best but OK until The Bridge starts again in a couple of weeks time .
I usually record the whole series then watch it all over 3 or 4 consecutive nights - otherwise I tend to forget characters / plot lines. My excuse is that some of them are a little convoluted & some actors appear in multiple series which can be confusing after a couple of G&T's! Arne Dahl is Ok though - a different story each weekend.
Hope you enjoy your walk tomorrow. You're very keen!

Don't want to lose fitness over the winter T'bird. Just makes it harder in spring
I think not feeding peanuts is part of the solution with squirrels. I stopped using them - only use the nibs that are in my seed mix. We've been debating it on another thread 'bird feeders'. Fidget has put a pic of her baffle that keeps them out.
Verd - rub it in - why don't you

Just had a cloudburst here. A warm fire beckons.
