I got a new feeding station multi feeder this year as just used branches of trees before, only had one squirrel go at the top one time but mainly the rats a issue kept getting up there was a sight to watch them climbing up the pole

so brought a squirrel baffler from well known GC starting with H.....  which does brilliant,  birds getting the food now and less money to spend out for

buy a squirrel feeder so nice to watch them in the garden getting there food out, and squirrels make such nice sounds

After watching autumn watch went got some sunflower seeds

Lots of fireworks out tonight as dry now

Have two scones DD - and don't share...image

I know what you mean about going out in rubbish weather. Worst bit is having to drive home when you're cold and wet. How I miss my heated seats image

If I go early it shouldn't be too bad. I can jog along a bit by the reservoir, and that'll help image

Pasta with a spicy tomato sauce on the go for tea. Can you tell the cupboards are a bit bare...image

Do you want some KEF? image

I was on the phone to her earlier today, just as the heavens opened up there ......think it must have been the same cloudburst as Fidget was experiencingimage Funny to think that some (well actually most) of you are closer to her than I amimage

How I envy Fairygirl. Tried all my life to make scones, but never look good. Follow all instructions and they still fail to rise. Yours look perfect.

Evening all, it's been a bit of a mixed day here, awful this morning and sunny this afternoon.  Much too wet to plany tulips though.  Visited a friend this morning and watched TV this afternoon after visiting mum.  She's still very down in the dumps, said she wished she was the woman in the next room to her.  I asked why and she said cos she died last nightimage not a great start to our chat.

Used to make my own christmas cake and pudding.  Then I realised I was the only one eating themimage decided I'd save the calories.

If there are any of those scones left and bit of that jam send it in my direction.

Morning all. It feels less than sunny out there and it's 7 am already.

We ended up drizzling warm jam on ice cream last night (before it set hard). Was rather good. I even got compliments from Hubby on the flavour. Feasted on another helping on the chard and cheese tart and then I cut it up into wedges and put in take-away containers for the freezer. I reminded Hubby that there is heaps of Tuscan Kale still to pick and that he needs to invent a recipe for that as well. Will do something about it today.

I'm feeling recovered from our week of visitors at long last. It took me a couple of days to recover.. DD I don't know how you do it. I couldn't cope with having people around all the time. You deserve a medal. The non-stop need to provide food and hot drinks, let alone conversation - bah. And our choice of TV viewing is not always what they like. Thank goodness for the recorder.

Speaking of which, someone mentioned the Bridge. We bought the DVD so that we could watch it without adverts. We also got The Tunnel and later on we got the American version of the Bridge, but I couldn't stand it. There are no subtitles and I couldn't understand some of the border guards language. Sort of Mexican accented American if you get what I mean. So, is there now a second series of the Swedish/Danish one coming out? we'd love to see it.

    1. id better get off and let someone else have a go.  Hope your weather improves.image

Yviestevie sorry to hear your Mum is feeling down. it must make you feel bad and frustrated that you can't help her. I can understand how easy it is to feel miserable after the weeks that I was so sick.  I couldn't believe how awful I felt.

those scones look very tempting. Pity we don't live near each other, we could have a good combined afternoon tea. I haven't made scones for years.image

  • Hello everyone.  I have been very firmly in the lurking corner for a while but thought I would venture out and say hello.

We've had a miserable week or so of thick fog that hasn't lifted here, but then this afternoon, this:

Hope you enjoyed the scone Ggirl image

There's a few left - get 'em while you can image

Cowslip - the secret is not rolling them too thin. At least half an inch - three quarters is even better image

chicky - that was a brilliant idea with chicklet. Bet you were thrilled doing that image

Oh Yvie - that's very hard for you with mum. I really hope things improve.

Pat - I saw The Tunnel before I saw The Bridge which made it easier to follow when I did see it! They did a re run of it just before the second series. I saw the American version of The Killing which I thought was very good - didn't see the original Danish one though.

Pat - we've had both season 1 & season 2 of The Bridge here and I'm hoping we'll be having Season 3 in a couple of weeks.

All 3 Scandi series of The Killing were very good - don't like any of the US remakes - same as I don't enjoy the remakes of classic films. They were classic because they were so good - leave well alone....

On the scone front - I don't roll mine - I make a long sausage with the mix abt 2-3" diameter & cut inch deep bits off. Works better for me - rolling pin skills are not great.

Cuppa tea right now waiting for OH to get in from work so we can watch Arne Dahl together.

Nite nite see you all tomorrow.
