Yes RB, they said they couldn't give a definite time but would try for the morning....if not it would be the afternoon. Well at least they didn't say it would be the next day!  What a waste of a day image

Thank you Hostafan, I certainly will.

Gardening on the wild, windy west side of Dartmoor.

  • Hello all,

No frost here but rain for next few days allegedly, not complaining, the grass where the rubble overspilled needs it and don't want to be doing hard labour in too much heat. Hope the frost isn't too bad for those affected, you seem very prepared. image

Also lot of plant sales on over the week-end (which starts tomorrow here, BH in France), so good time to be buying rather than twiddling thumbs. image

Guests arrived, very nice, but off to horse trials early in the morning, out all day and the same for the next 3 days so hopefully won't interrupt my gardening/shopping plans. More arriving tomorrow and they want a 'light' dinner so have some chicken marinating and am going to serve it with salad and warm potato salad, with a Tarte au Citron to follow. They aren't coming until 7pm so have all day to myself. image

Going to post some ID requests now elsewhere, keep finding strange things. image Very happy to report my first poppy has showed it's face though, was afraid I had dug them out last year but they came back. image

I bet a lot of it will come back, Edd... image  - though the exposed bilberry bushes on our walk today had their flowers killed by the frost.  Drat.  My favourite wild fruit!  image

Have wrapped up a lot of plants tonight. The discovery of frosted actinidia really upset me. i have a camellia about to flower, been in for 6 years this is the first time. I can't remember what colour it is so looking forward to seeing it, hopefully

i really must try to label things more carefully

    Edd fingers crossed

hostafan if I had a magic carpet I would be straight down, sounds wonderful

DD lovely menu! I would love to come! How is Shadow tonight?
