Thanks everyone. Yes, Dove, I rang the bakery where he got the pie and suggested they might want to throw their steak and kidney pies out. She responded that no one had complained. (As if my call was not a complaint), der! The trouble is that the little village is so remote, in the middle of nowhere, and I guess she doesn't have much of a turnover. I can only do what I did.

As for the ecoli, I've been using the non- en suite toilet.
on the plus side, he said he has stopped vomiting now, so hopefully things will sort themselves out, I did take the opportunity while in town to buy an extra supply of toilet rolls!

Pat - putting loo roll in the freezer was the standard recommended remedy up here when you'd had a very hot curry the night before. Not sure if it ever really happened though!
