Verdun, I think we should bring back the stocks or the Birch for such attacks. Sometimes I think it is all the thugs will understand.
Today I had a first class delivery of rare unusual plants. This is to replace the rubbish ones sent last year. Last Friday they sent delphiniums instead of the penstemons and phlox that were late delivered last year, and a lot didn't do anything.. Today I got a full set of 20 penstemon and a dozen phlox. I've finished potting them up. With the survivors from last year I should have enough to fill the garden.
We've had a lovely few days at MIL's in South Lincs - wall to wall sunshine, birdsong and blossom. Thanks to a heads-up from Nut, we went to a lovely little nursery on Sunday which had lots of 'guest' stalls with lots of interesting plants - now I really shall have to extend some of the beds! Yesterday we went to Stamford (which is absolutely gorgeous) - we often spend time there just pootling about, shopping and looking at it's lovely architencture, and we had a very good lunch at the Tobie Norris - very very old pub.
On the way home a Red Kite swooped low over the car (we had the top down) and I quickly pulled into a layby and we spent a wonderful half hour watching it swooping and wheeling above our heads - sometimes it was so low we could almost look it in the eye - the sunlight on the feathers made them look the most fantastic glossy russet-red - it really was a memorable experience!
Today we called in on Nut and her OH for coffee and spent at least a couple of hours chatting and walking around their lovely garden - they have been working hard over the winter. And of course she didn't let us come away empty handed either - I'm awaitng an email with the plant's name We also made a bit of a discovery, but I'll let her tell you about that when she's looked it up and confirmed it!
Then a drive home, still in beautiful sunshine and with the hedgerows covered in blossom. We stopped off at a little cafe where despite the fact that I tried to order a ham salad the waiter insisted that I should have ham egg and chips - he was a big lad so I didn't argue
Since we got home I've been watering thirsty pots and feeding hungry birds, while OH unloaded the car and loaded the washing machine. Now he's in the study rigging up the printer that we seem to have acquired from MIL - I thought we were taking it to the tip
I have had a bit of a skim-read - did I hear we're planning a party
Now I'd better have a proper read back and see what you've all been up to ...
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
What beautiful sunny day we've had. Still lovely cloudless blue skies.
Oh I do hope this isn't our summer.
I fancy something new in my border under the window at the front. It gets the sun nearly all day. Any suggestions.......would like something that flowers through the summer months.
RB, its still there at the mo.......a climbing Jasmine, but its not flowered for a couple of years so i thought it could come out. Don't really want a climber although had thought of Pink Fizz fushia Someone put that on anothet thread but I'm not sure about it now
Not sure I do anymore. Just want something that flowers through the summer and possibly a few feet tall but not too bushy...........am I asking too much....lol

Sheets are out drying in the sunshine.
Evening all.
Been a lovely day here.
If beautiful gardens were achieved by standing and staring at them, then mine would probably be the "Carling" of the gardening world.
Poldark I am not, but I did briefly have my top off when doing some greenhouse stuff, it was like an oven in there.
Off to cook tea, have a lovely evening.

Sounds like you've had a lovely few days Dove
Hello
Not been here for a few days, partying, visiting, hospital appointment etc.
My Pamela Jackman is out
It is in quite an inaccessible area of garden so I don't touch it apart from fighting my way through to it once a year to give it a top dressing
Hope you all had a good weekend - looks as if Dove did, I did.
Who's engaged then?.
Fidgets engaged Matty.
RB, its still there at the mo.......a climbing Jasmine, but its not flowered for a couple of years so i thought it could come out. Don't really want a climber although had thought of Pink Fizz fushia Someone put that on anothet thread but I'm not sure about it now
Congratulations Fidget- or is that old news?
