After I posted this morning I went out to give the horses their horse nuts Archie bit Hannah who tried to bite Lena (the underdog/horse) who leapt forward onto me, I went flying and someone trod on my thigh. Been feeling bruised and sorry for myself all day. Thigh much better, although swollen but neck now hurts and is very stiff. Had horses here for 22 years and never been knocked over before.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Lizzie - hope you are ok - they are big beasts to be being trod on by.  Guess something spooked them?

woody - we have about 200 members plus proceeds from plant sales, so can afford a couple of headliners a year.  2014 includes Fergus Garrett and Cleve West ..... Soooo excited imageimage

Dove - all the gardens featured this evening were St petersburg ones - let me know if the gra is going to take you near there - if so i will pm you the names!  Seemed like lots of fountains, cascades and gold gilt ....

  • Lizzie that sounds very painful, hope you're ok, take care, hope you feel better soon.

Night night everyone.  See you in the morning. image

Ooh er, the list of threads has gone back to normal  image

  • Good morning all image

BL - hope you had a good night's sleep - have you got multicoloured bruising?  Have you got any arnica?  Odd that they behaved like that, when they've got a well established pecking order - is one of them out of sorts maybe?

Chicky, St P is further north than I'll be going - that's much more the northern European bit - where I'll be going is about 2,000 km southeast of there, almost to Asia. Don't think the elegant gardens of Europe spread that far - I think this is more what I'll be seeing http://www.cityfarmer.info/2012/05/22/in-1999-35-million-small-family-plots-produced-90-of-russias-potatoes-77-of-vegetables-87-of-fruits-59-of-meat-49-of-milk/#more-27697

We heard about dachniks .... The guy speaking had worked in the Moscow botanical gardens for 4 years.  Such a vast country - bet you can't wait to experience some of itimage

  • Daughter in law's Baboushka seems to feed a large extended family from the family Dacha - they all turn up to help with the harvest - I'd love to go at that time, but DIL says that knowing me I'd find the weather just too hot - so springtime to see the expanses of wild flowers is the plan.
