Still very very windy and noisy out there - just been sorting out the right tune for one of the hymns for Pa's Thanksgiving service. Nowadays For the Beauty of the Earth always seems to be sung to John Rutter's tune - it's lovely for a choir but not so good for a congregation to tackle on their own. I'm sure most people who come will be more familiar with the tune we sang it to as children 'English Lane' - hopefully the organist can lay his hands on the music.
The Thanksgiving service will end with Vaughan Williams' arrangement of the English folk song Seventeen Come Sunday - it's one of my favourite pieces of music https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4g7D9lNNcMg and used to introduce the tv programme Farming Diary that we watched at lunchtime on Sundays with Pa when we were children. A rather jaunty piece for the occasion, but hopefully old farming friends will get the significance
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
No sign of Hefty yet, but he's usually later than I think he will be. I find that the first sign of hedgehogs waking around here are one or two squidged ones on the main road and I noticed yesterday that there wasn't a single one between here and Southwold, so maybe the East Anglian ones aren't awake yet.

Ive not seen any "evidence" of hedgehogs either, after last nights storms i cant blame them! We seem to have high winds with a mix of bright sun, heavy rain and hail??? And that stupid dead cherry tree is still standing! That placcy greenhouse has a shredded door...they should be shot for selling such a rubbish product!
Now if anyone has seen our dustbin, please we would like it back. we do have the lid.
Cold house is even more decrepit now, little holly tree has been place in the store as was rocking around in its pot and the rose up the house wall needs attention BUT not in this wind!
Also my hair is all over the place - then again nothing new there
Next doors large trampoline has blown across their garden - fortunately not our way. as they are away that's a nice surprise to come home to
Have never seen hedgehog here, though do make a hedgehog house every year just in case
Ventured out to pick up rubbish that was blowing around, and inspect for damage, almost got blown over twice, came back in to make some chicken broth which seemed like a wise move. Our wheelbarrow was on the other side of the garden to where I left it and the pond is full of leaves, but so far no damage.
The back garden has been battered, but strangely the front where the bins are luckily has hardly a breeze! Ladies, i hope your bins are found soon!
Just spoke to T&M as i was being TOTALLY ignored by email, they are refunding the points i used and told me to keep the greenhouse???? Maybe i can make something more useful out of the poles!

Hello
Now if anyone has seen our dustbin, please we would like it back. we do have the lid.

Hope everyone has survived more or less intact.
I put some washing out on the line 'cos it's fairly sheltered in the back garden, but it didn't stay there long - we've got it back indoors now

I was even braver getting it back in - it was tipping down with rain
