Bekkie . After seeing the chef at work in the pub it made me follow a proper Curry recipe-used all the proper curry spices etc. and made my own sauce.( My usual curry is bung it all in the pot with three or four teaspoons of medium curry powder.) It tasted good but what was better was that after I shut the chickens in and came back indoors the aroma that was lingering was wonderful.image

Hosta, mine was a beef balti.image

Hosta, if your TV machine is Tevo then you have to tell it not to delete them in the folder,OH does that for me so let me know if you need details image

Runnybeak, I'm not sure what you mean by showy but I love plants with foliage, form and seasonal interest and this plant gives you beautiful colour in the leaves, with berries in winter. It's common name is heavenly bamboo image

LesleyK, I 'I'll take that kiss and give you a big hug. Good luck with it all

Dove, it all sounds very special and whilst I have no experience of losing a parent, I know how much I love my dad  image

Weather for us was fine here toda

    Oops, premature postimage

At least I didn't lose it, typing on the tablet is painful enough once

Was going to add that the forecast storms haven't hit Kent yet or at least not my patch

    P. S  bekkie,  I don't envy your task but Ash is good for the garden image

Up with pyromania...  image  you can't beat a good bonfire!  I don't have room for one in my current garden (the slope is too great, plus we're supposed to be smokeless image) but I try to have a reason for a bonfire every time we go to our cottage in Scotland.  Setting light to stuff is very therapeutic...  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
  • Evening all (if anyone still up).

Just finished mammoth i*****g session, was determined to clear the basket (s) before next guests arrive tomorrow. Have Superking beds so sheets are ridiculously enormous and have to sweep amd mop floor beforehand to avoid 'Shadow' hairs. image

Did manage to see Kew on a Plate though, was super and like Bekkie feel inclined to get the book. Mozarella & Tomato salad looked amazing. image

Big congratulations to Hosta & OH (who as someone said must be a real sweetie to be remembered so fondly). Reminded me of my joy at getting accepted for first mortgage (Halifax turned us down initally), was hard to imagine back then ever being old enough to pay it off.

Dove glad you are getting things sorted, not easy and to Lyn & Verdun thinking of you too. After 22 years of feeling bereft on Mother's Day was so nice to actually become a mum and the day able to become special again.

Had to call in a GC this morning to get some more seed compost and came home with a couple of little Leucanthemum, am usually very restrained but couldn't help myself, they needed some TLC especially one of them was, was dying of thirst.

Good morning all image  March certainly going out like a lion!!!!  Horrendously noisy wind and things blown about outside - I've shone the torch about and can't see much damage but the wind's not dropping yet. image  Hope you all have your hatches battened down!

Dd - re Mother's Day - sister in law and I were both saying yesterday that we've been mothers for 42 and 35 years respectively, but as yet Mother's Day has never been about us because we both still have mothers living.   I think there's a strong case for those who have become grandmothers giving up their claim to Mother's Day.  When I'm in charge that will be The Law!!!

Ooooh - hope that leucanthemum picked up DD - it is looking a little sadimage

Blowing a hoolie here too - and set to last all dayimage.  I hate wind and gales more than any other weather.

was going to say that I hope Dove gets some "me" time at the coast today ....but maybe a day to stay at home instead.

i hate anniversaries too.  Don't get to visit Mum's grave as often as I should, but planted an acorn from a special tree there, which is growing quite nicely.  I talk to that a lot ....slightly mad, but it works for me.
