PPS whoops forgot to mention GC trip in car, which I actually did yesterday after puppy playdate since my dad couldn't make today. So I only needed two terracotta pots which are extremely heavy. I did manage to get discount on one since it has a small chip. Verdon, what do you say to 20% off £16? Did I do okay?
Best buckets for toms are the florists buckets. Morrisons sell them off in packs, work out about 10p each. You have to drill a few holes in yourself.
I planted 84 Salvia patens seeds in a plug tray today. A couple of last years plants are already sprouting. They will flower first, then this years afterwards.
Got those Fidget, these are wider and tougher, shouldn't go brittle with sun on them. The Morrison's ones have hellebores and dahlias in them, and hopefully aubergines and peppers in them this summer. Summer...oh how I dream.
Have overdone things somewhat, am very sore and covered in bruises from moving those heavy trees i pulled out a couple of months ago, have dug up a viburnum and split all the little bits that had rooted off it, will plant them in the hedge tomorrow in an attempt to thicken it up! Moved the compost heap and filled a bucket with bindweed roots, i know its weird, but i quite enjoy digging up bindweed
George has been for a reasonable walk, OH is back at work tomorrow....all is good with the world
Some lillies and gladioli followed me home yesterday
Think its time for a shower then bed, hope you are all ok x
Know exactly what you mean bekkie re bindweed roots and I know it goes against established opinion fair enough but I enjoy the process too on my light soil I get great satisfaction from removing all that sneaky growth the plant does when it thinks I'm not looking
Pa came round with the new lawnmower this afternoon and we gave the lawn it's first cut of the year It's not too short but looks better for the trim
Just watched Bake Off for Comic Relief which was fun, but what we are really enjoying is Lets Play Darts for CR Good entertainment and some good darts too
Phew. Found my knitting... It was in a place I'd already looked, obviously. How does that happen?
Tomorrow I'm due to garden with others in the Park again, this time removing brambles and sapling trees from a potential archaeological site. Hopefully it won't be quite as wet as our last outing... It's a shame, in a way, that a "Friends of the Park" group is necessary, because it means the council is so strapped for cash that it's hopelessly behind with its maintenance work. But on the other hand, it's good fun, and I get to do the sort of macro gardening which is no longer necessary in my patch. I hadn't expected to hanker after wielding a mattock, but sometimes I do...
Must get to bed. Night night!
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Glad you found your knitting, Liri. I found a bag with various bits of mine in it, pen, my table napkin etc in the spare bedroom that the grandchildren use. 5 yr old granddaughter is a bit like a magpie!
I pruned "the Pilgrim" climbing rose this afternoon. Loads of cranes flew over on their way to their summer home. They made a heck of a noise.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
