Hi - I was up and out before the forum.  KEF I think I must have broken it (I get the blame for everything elseimage).  Well done team for getting us back in touch.  I may have had withdrawal symptoms.  Just been getting watches fixed and buying the 8 greetings cards needed for this monthimage.

Your little horse looks gorgeous Lizzie.  I hope something can be done soon for her sore back.

Dove I hope Ma and Pa enjoy the celebrationsimage.

Winter, don't let it get to you - deep breath - relax - and gardenimage

4 seasons in 1 day here.

Managed to pot up 13 Cannas, just got to bring them inside, without making too much mess.

Have also cut back collection of Miscanthus', as lots of new growth appearing. Most of the flower heads were decimated by the December snow, so looking very tatty.

Time for lunch, and then a spot of weeding.

Yvie Garrya can get very large.

How can you lie there and think of England

Forum was down for me until after lunch.

My garrya is about 3m tall, 20 year old, and responds well to random hacking.  It is currently covered in long tassels.

Cold wind here. I have picked some hellebore flowers to float in water. Sweet peas are germinating. The mouse trap killed a wood mouse in the greenhouse.

One of the neighbours had cowboys in, trimming the oak. Words were said. He said he had permission. A phone call to council had a result of an emergency visit from their tree people, who have spelt it out to him, including the size of the fine he can expect.  At this he backtracked, saying the scaffolding was for cutting the hedge. Liar, liar, pants on fire. I think he has got the message, though the scaffolding is still up. We have taken photos. He has only removed twigs that a  lopper can cut, and provided no rot sets in, they will soon regrow.  Moral of this story. If you dont like having a 150 year old oaktree in the back garden, dont buy the house. The preservation order is on the deeds.

Afternoon all. I really did miss you this morning! Ended up hauling my rump out of bed far too early and really confused the dog! Having my afternoon inspiration injection: the to do list is getting longer I'm sure.

    Right: have fun everyone!

Afternoon all.  Currently sunny... will it be snowing again by the time I finish posting this, I wonder?  image

Fidget, what a blessing you were at home to notice what was happening to the oak tree!  I don't understand why people in Britain are so paranoid about trees in their gardens.  Shade is wonderful, leaf raking is good for you, and gutters & drains need a clearout anyway from time to time... quite apart from it being completely awesome to share space with a living thing which has been around so much longer than we have.  In Scandinavia generally they seem to build their houses round the existing trees, and in rural Finland they venerate old trees - some still have "family trees" where they go to venerate past generations etc.  What right do we have to destroy the past, willy-nilly?

Rant over.  New rant begins...image  WHAT HAVE I DONE WITH MY KNITTING??  I've just finished the sleeves of a complicated jumper pattern, for which I knitted the front & back a few months ago.  When the family came I put the finished bits in a "safe place".  But where the dickens is it????  image

    It's still sunny.  image

Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

I'm back home and bushed!  Aged Ps quite well considering, Flowers from Pa for Ma had arrived and were gorgeous - lots of spring flowers including anemones, Ma's favourites. image  I didn't stay too long as it's Pa's 95th birthday tomorrow - my son will visit in the morning and help him open presents I left today, and then in the afternoon my brother will visit. They'll be exhausted after that.

I did some food shopping on the way home - now that's all unpacked and put away so I'm going to put my feet up now
