  • Wow Hosta, 60 is a lot, are they full sized ones too? Maybe you will end up having a specialist canna nursery if all goes wellimage

I grew some dwarf white ones once, very nice, but forgot to bring them in for the winter!

Bekkie, go for it, what the eyes don't see etc etc.  If he can't go to the gym cos of his back he shouldn't be eating sugary foods else all that muscle will turn to fat.  You'll be saving him from himselfimage

Just eaten a lovely steak dinner cooked by hubby now relaxing in front of TV while he has a bath.

Bekkie, they're canna warscewiczii and they grow to about 60cm tall. I almost ordered some online a few weeks ago but , including postage, they worked out at almost £1 per seed.

On holiday in The Gambia earlier this month they were growing in a hotel garden and I asked if I could have some. The boss said " come back tomorrow and I'll have someone pick them for you" Next day he gave me a bag full of approx 500 seeds.

I poured some boiling water over them to sterilise them and brought them home with me.

    Devon.

How frustrating KEF, but they look good anyway.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
  • Quick hello before bed (exhausted). Wine festival was super, such friendly and knowledgeable people, all growers and producers of their own wine. Lots of tasting done and a fair few cases packed into the car. image

Managed a walk around the town of Brive, lovely riverside park, nice lunch too and got back in time to do a few jobs in the garden, including planting some cornus cuttings.

Seeds still not emerged image but it did say 2 - 3 weeks, patience, patience.

Good evening to all, very much in need of early night here, have to i**n all holiday clothes and pack tomorrow and clean house from top to bottom - OH always queries why I feel urge to leave house tidy for possible intruders but I can't help myself, couldn't bear to come back to chaos. image
