Wintwrsong I have no idea how you can do so much.  I managed to cut back the cornus and take cuttings before I was driven in by the freezing wind.  You'll have lots of sitting time in the garden this yearimage

Fidget I hope all went smoothly today with all the admin.

Rb, I managed to find the original welly nest post and will definitely be giving it a go.  Think I'll stick a bit of nesting material in to give them a start.image

Lovely photo DD - although Charlie's wearing wellies he looks as happy as me when I manage to get two pairs of shoesimage.  Hope poor Marmalade settles down and becomes brave enough to use the flap.  What colour is heimageimage

Bank sorted. A lot easier than I thought it was going to be.

I just remembered the car tax was due. Its a lot easier now online, rather than queuing at the post office.

A chicken carcass is simmering, ready to make soup. The buffy ball squash that I grew last year have stored really well. When they are baked though, the inside comes away like fine noodles, rather than like the butternut squash they are supposed to be like. However they make a good substitute for fine rice noodles in chicken noodle and sweetcorn soup.

OH has had another random blood glucose. 5.3. Practically normal. So the diet seems to be having the desired effect.  image

    Hi Charlie imageimagelovely picture DD.

Winter I had to read that twice..you are pooped image still have my mind on naughty Marmalade.

Hi Runny glad the vampire didn't get you or Lily image Best wishes to your OH hope he is well soon.

I've harvested the last of the Kalo Nero kale and the other one image forgotten the name ..both too strong tasting for us now that area of veg bed ready for FYM.  Found that if I I prepare it like spring cabbage and then sweat it down like spinach and crunch it into balls squeezing the water out I can freeze it individually like shop bought spinach and when steamed it's nice. Won't grow it again will try curly kale.

Fess up who has nicked Panda image she's AWOL

Hope day has been okay Fidget.

Sympathies Winter my previous house had lovely hidden paths and lumps of buried concreteimage I have two clematis still  growing well in big terracotta pots from those daysimage

Well I'm home alone in the museum until the ghost hunters get here. It is going to be a cold night!!!

  • Afternoon image

So after getting up at stupid o'clock to cook chicken for his lunch yesterday, he decided he was too ill for work (bad back), so have been looking after him. Honestly between him and george, its a full time carers job!image

Sorry to hear about your grandson BL, my OH had that once and was very poorly, hope he feels better soon image

Dove that flafa wotsit sounds good, ive only ever had it in a ready made wrap, i imagine yours is infinately better!image

Kef, the best way i like kale is cooked in butter! image, so dont have that anymoreimage, my mom does a sort of colcannon mash with it which is really nice image. I found kailaan was better and milder, grows quicker too, kind of like oriental veg image

DD, your walkies sound so nice, your little un is very lucky, he will have such good memories image. Sorry marmalade still isnt happy with the cat flap, it does sound like hes made an enemy, Kefs idea of a tunnel is good, gives him time to see if the bully is about! image

Liri, hope your OHs check up went well and you managed to get the plants you want image

SGL, hope youve managed to get some sleep, nothing like a nice snuggly afternoon nap image

RB, my OH is just the same, not a clue!image

Fidget, glad youve had a productive day. Good the diet is working for your OH image

Lesley, youve still done more than me, even if you were sent packing by the cold wind! image

Wintersong, i cant wait to see how your garden looks by summer, i hope you will sit and enjoy all the hard work image

It was a lovely sunny day here, didnt get to go out and play in the garden due to cooking, cleaning, medicating, fetching drinks....you get the idea! Tomorrow i might have a go at making that rubbish greenhouse a bit sturdier so it actually stands up! Grrrrrr
  • Thanks RB, patience is a virtue eh!image

Moms little dog has gained a ton of confidence, has become quite mischevious! My stepdad, bless him, hasnt got a clue, fed her pizza crust with chillies on it! Little dog to use my moms words "exploded" on their bed! Stepdad firmly in the dog house, bedding has been thrown away! Both of moms dogs are coming to stay with me at the end of march for a couple of days image
  • Anyone ever made chilli muscle rub? Probably need Stacey for this! My OH has found a really strong rub, but its hard to get hold of, this is possibly a little to close to cooking for my skills!image
