lovely bench Yvie, I am slightly biased though as I have one the same Got it last year and mine is in a perfect spot to catch the sun till 7/8 on a summers evening You will have much joy sitting on it.
bekkie, make your complaint short and sharp, don't apologise and repeat it three times in your head or write it down in front of you so you don't give in. Remember, it's not always about how much you spend, its them telling lies about its size or quality and they WILL if we let them. Ask to speak to a supervisor if you get no luck from the sales staff.
BL, I'm sorry to hear about the deer rampage, I do hope it doesn't continue to spoil your beautiful yellow book garden
Verdun, I've never had a crown fitted either and if I get to be retired before I need one I will think myself very proud of me gnashers (I wish the smilies were more appropriate)
Runnybeak, thanks for the consolations over the bird. He was extremely upset but life goes on.
Back from the gym and trotted around the garden. Very pleased with everything I swapped around or planted new yesterday, it's all looking very tidy except the *passage area which needs new trellis and the raised bed planted, and the veg plot which needs major landscaping to incorporate my greenhouse perhaps mid spring and composting area rebuilt.
Still got a ton of PPPs to sort, so I might just go and snap a few pics of the garden while its warmish and sunny, so I can design more and compare last year to this year. I don't normally start photos until April but well, the garden is so much more established now that I think it would be fun to compare.
P.S I bought a rucksack. A proper hiking one with padded shoulder straps, high-vis cover, and 100 secret pockets Sturdy enough to get plants home from the GC
Just back from GC, where I spent a happy couple of hours wandering around and chatting to former colleagues. And buying a few things...
I identified which clematis I wanted but decided to leave it until I have the car - the wind was too strong to carry it back without damage. It's a pretty pale pink C. alpina, called 'Pink Flamingo'. Bought a jasmine for Mum's birthday (it's on Friday, Bekkie, but I have to give her her card & present tomorrow, since we're away for the weekend). Also bought lots of veg seeds; they sell T&M, Unwins, Marshalls and "Country Value"; I bought as many "Country Value" as I could, since they cost only 87p per packet instead of £1.99 or more. I'll have to see what the germination is like.
Bought a paeony 'Festiva maxima' for £4, reduced from £15. Ok, looks dead now, and the pot's cracked, but there are plenty of fat buds under the compost (I had a scrabble around to make sure!). Had my smart phone with me so was able to check it was a colour I liked (it's double, white with a pink tinge).
Then, because I wasn't buying the clematis yet, I spent £2.50 on a lovely big Cyclamen coum with lots of buds on. And more money on bird food...
Wintersong, the trouble with my rucksack is that the top doesn't open wide enough for big plant pots. Had to carry them in large carrier bags, on the bus (too heavy to walk back with them).
Yvie, you don't have to be old to remember dustbin lids! We still have dustbins down our road, and black bin bags supplied by the council, because the road is too narrow for the bin lorry. There's a special small lorry which comes round the little streets in the town, collecting the binbags once a fortnight, and the recycling every week. Bit behind the times here...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
It may be inconvenient but sounds idyllic Liri. Hope your Mum likes her birthdaycard and plant.
Everyone sounds industrious and planning and planting. Love that bench Yvie and knowing you it will look better in position than the picture you're aiming for.
Took ages to drive here today because of bad weather to start and heavy traffic to finish. Still it's lovely to see Mum and Dad and be able to help out a bit. I've been putting Christmas decorations plus bits and pieces in the attic (mainly so there's room to put myself in the bedroom. They are both doing quite well and I'm able to 'talk' to you while he's asleep in front of the computer because he's got wi-if now. He's also got a friend who worked for BT.
Good to see you back LilyP. Once you've caught up with the washing you'll be raring to go - when weather permits

Bench looks great Yvie. Not a long way to go, just needs summer to arrive.
We've been out to buy more deer fencing, compost and bird food. Those bluetits get through an awful lot.
Glad you had a good holiday, Lily P.
Absolutely Verdun, and in the case of couples, never will your half to your spouse. Always in trust to the children.
