Dove, are they in too much sunshine? Dappled shade is what they like best. Also damp but not soggy at the roots.(moisture retaining and free draining)

Fidget, they're in dappled shade on the north-eastern side of trellis fence which is covered with a grape vine - it doesn't get much more dappled than that here - they are in a decent sized clay pot in a mix of JI3 and home-made compost with a bit of added grit.  They were going to go near to my purple roscoea but an aquilegia suddenly had territorial ambitions and turned into a giant, forcing a temporary rethink.

I'm going to have to shuffle some things about a bit on the Shady Bank this autumn to make a permanent home for it.

Thanks all for the welcome and hope you don't mind us being on this forum.I am Irish and my wife is Russian but I have lived in Russia since Soviet days so very interesting times  but our ultimate love ,apart from each other ,is our garden....novices I hasten to add image

We have had a tough day working so now to feed the workers, mother in law and aunt , some shashlik ...

Preparing the fire ...we use wood , a little oak and mostly birch , we know the wood comes from sustainable forests as we pick it up ourselves . The wood gives a very tasty flavor to the meat.
