Birds are getting through a lot of feed here too. The great spotted woodpeckers have decided that they like naked sunflower seeds too. Usually they will only go for the pink fat block. I found a dead bullfinch behind the apricot stump. I guess this weather is going to cause some casualties. Blackbirds are enjoying bakers meaty meal chunks cut up into smaller bits.  We had a Jay on the patio last week when I threw out the bacon rinds. A buzzard did a low circle around the top oak tree, but didn't venture down. I guess we could peg out one of the local cats???image

I planted the erythroniums in 3 inch pots of sieved home made compost (mainly shreddings, oak leaves and grass clippings) When they start growing I will put them in the ground where I want them. I only have 5 each of Dens Canis and White Beauty. The pagoda didn't come. I guess they will make a small group each, in between  the hellebores.

Just watched the big allotment challenge. Aside from the lack of gardening.... what an odd bunch of people (and i meet some really odd people!)

I'll stick to just gardening for fun!
  • Was that the last series Clari? The one with the 2 ladies that liked to get dressed up to garden, make up and everything.......now that is odd - no make up, pony tail and scruffs for me, I'd never make TV imageimage

There's a new Allotment Challenge going SL - but with singles, not pairs this time.  Picked up a few tips on potato growing (not that we have plans to show them - but eating is good).

just back from a 10 mile yomp - Chicklet dropped us off on her way to work and we walked back home - lakes, woodland, orchards, mini peaks, a golf course (luckily empty, so no cries of "four"image) and bucketfuls of fresh air.

Sounds lovely Chicky, although I'm not sure I'd class 10 miles as a yomp image image

  • Lovely pic Chicky.

10 miles! Wow longer than my walks image

Just popped outside to put something in the bin, really thick fog. Could hardly see a few feet in front of me image

So calm and peaceful chickyimage. Shame the holidays are coming to an end

Not too clever but I'm going mad on leftovers tonight and starting the abstinence tomorrow.  Ah well, here we go again.
