Hello folks! Glad to see everyone's had a lovely Christmas!
We're home a day early as MIL had heavy snow last night - we were out visiting friends about 8 miles away, and only just got home in the blizzard conditions. This morning niece was out building snowmen and great fun was had but we thought we'd better make tracks (geddit? ) in case things got worse rather than better, so packed our bags and set off for home, only to find that 6 miles from MIL there'd been no snow at all.
We went past the turning to Nut's village, and t didn't look as if they'd had any, and that's only a couple of villages away from MIL!!!
And did anyone watching the lunchtime news see someone being interviewed from the Peak District Rescue Team (or whatever it was called) - their name was Ed. It wasn't our Edd was it?
Anyway, we're home safe and sound - we called in at a farm shop and picked up a free range chicken for tomorrow and OH has unpacked the car and I've turned the heating on and the fire is blazing and the house is warming up.
One mini crisis was that my mobile died on Christmas Day - it had been playing up and then immersing it (accidentally) in water just about finished it off. So anyone who has my mobile number, there's no point in using it at the moment! Hopefully I'll be able to get a new one which will take the old SIM card

Edd, thermometer in GH reading 1.4C. Reading from remote sensor in the house, I'm not going out there
The snow can stay away as long as it likes
Dove, village is generous for the dozen or so houses up here.
I hadn't realised how close the snow was. Ice will be the next issue here. Grit lorry came by once about 15 years ago, I think it was lost. I haven't put a vehicle in a drain yet though
I just drive within the limits of what I think I can control.
One day, watching from the window, someone flying down the road in the snow, far too fast. Said to OH, he'll be in the drain if he's not careful. Hardly had the words left my lips........
Nut, we were at Market Deeping last night when the snow was so bad - that's not far from you as the crow flies is it?
Edd - the phone was already dieing - I'd phoned round the rellies before we went away warning them that it was playing up - I think the phone leapt into the sink of it's own volition - it couldn't bear being an almost dead phone any more - we've done the box of rice in the airing cupboard thing but - it has had enough

Dove? What is going on with The Peak District Mountain Rescue Organisation (PDMRO) pleases????
There is nothing on the airwaves???
Edd, we were lunching in a pub on the way home to Norfolk from Lincs and the tv in the pub was showing the news and they were interviewing someone in Hi Vis and helmet called Ed about being drafted in to help with stranded traffic and I'm pretty sure they said Derbyshire - but it was hard to hear it all what with the conversation in the pub etc.

Fear not Edd - the Ed I saw was far too sturdy and substantial to be mistaken for Mr Miliband and he definitely had the air of being - 'a safe pair of hands'
