Busy day so far. Took OH's car for MOT, then went to town to get Carol Service booklets printed, supermarket for groceries and toyshops for Chrissie pressies for 7 out of 8 grandchildren. Other gc's present is past the other end of town, will do it tomorrow after I've babysat for grandbaby, also will look at the big GC for Christmas trees.

I hope problem with sister is able to be resolved, DD.

  • Hello folks - it's been a busy day! Two dozen mince pies made - OH says they're the best in the world.  He's only saying that so that when he's eaten them all I'll make him some more.

Also two big jars of red cabbage in sweet spicey vinegar now sitting on the shelf waiting for Boxing Day, and a chicken is potroasting in the oven.

Lovely Builder arrived with paint charts and sat and drank coffee but he was a bit too early for the mince pies -  he'll expect double next time. image

Verdun, just keep your weather to yourself will you please - I'm green with envy - everything here has just been dripping all day. image

DD - hope the sister stuff gets sorted - siblings eh?  Tell me about them. image

Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

  • Ooh Dove, I do love a mince pie, not managed to find any mincemeat here yet, shall have to pick BL's brains (when she finally sits down to read the posts) or get OH to stash some in his case next week when he is off to UK again.

Never come across a 'lovely builder' you lucky thing. image

Verdun - have an image of you in shorts, vest, sox and sandals soaking up the rays - don't post a real pic will spoil the illusion. image

Sent the letter to sister, did my upmost to be cool, calm, collected and kind, await response with trepidation, tbh, will be astonished if I get a positive response, she finds it difficult to see things from anyone else's perspective. Can but hope. image

Did manage to find a yoga mat today though, and added bonus - exercise instructions on wrapper - can practise so as to avoid humiliation in class next week. image

Definitely looks like we'll be getting a frost tonight. I took a walk around two garden centres (to top up my vitamin D levels you understand - something very important and probably would have worked were it not so cold I was under many many inches of clothing) one of which I found the seed packets had faded in the light, and the plants had a thick layer of mould over the compost... makes me wonder how long seeds sit on shelves because these really didn't look fresh!

Second one was full of festive tat. Which at least meant I saved some money!

Now. Where's my hot water bottle...

How can you lie there and think of England
