Shame about blackie Doveimage. We have had a few fatalities over the years, the saddest being a young great spotted woodpecker fledgling.  We spend much of the summer with the curtains half shut.  I think I'll get stickers next year.

AWB I've not been on the Braemar but love a cruiseimage  I saw your pic of the growing wall in Tenerife. It looked gorgeous.

Sorry you had a bad time at the hospital BK and really hope for good news for you.

Beaus you don't want to know what I was calling that pc yesterdayimage

  • Hello all,

Did post a chatty hello this morning but then laptop suddenly came up with a message "He's dead Jim" and everything faded away. OH says because I never switch it off for a rest. Anyway, all fixed now did some fancy configuring all by itself. I wasn't impressed and failed to see the funny side of the message. Needless to say I sent best wishes to all and empathy with hairdresser visit, that question must be in the training manual - I hate it! image

Gorgeous day here, been in garden all morning tidying up this and that. Got given some plants at Gardening club yesterday, some salvia and some lovely tall yellow daisy like flowers, we don't know the name but I commented how lovely they were when I saw them in the ladies garden and she brought me some in. Will post a pic next year when/if they survive and you can name them for me. image

Also planting some hyacinths and Narcissus poeticus I got from the nursery on Sunday in tubs near the kitchen door and a Kniphopia in what will be my red/yellow and orange bed. Going to lift  (& label) the dahlia's this afternoon. image

Enjoy your hols BL, see you when you get back.image

Dove so sorry to hear about the blackbird, so sad. It happened here the other day too, I am trying to find some willow wind chime/dangly things to stop it happening again.image

To everyone else, have a lovely afternoon & especially good wishes for poorly people.image

Think the garden will do now for the winter though and always find this time of year so disheartening especially as my cottage style garden has its main glory in the summer, not really got winter ever green things image

Bitter Knitter (are you good at knitting or do you wish you were?image) I live in Dordogne, driving to England for pre-Christmas family visit and to buy crackers (not sold in France), stopping at daughter's on the way, Picardie, 1 hour from Lille.

Have done lots of dusting and OH has done hoovering. Don't want the housesitter to think we are total slobs. Next are ironing and packing.

Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.

Oh well that was a marathon.  Had a look back to get the gist of things.  Lots of wrist injuries mmm.   Welcome to BK and Susan, you dont have to be mad to post here but it certainly helps.  Just a quick word of warning about Verdun's jokes, we are trying to get him medicated but so far we have failed.

Haven't done any gardening over the past week or so although seeds I planted (Briza and Loosestrife) have started to germinate.  Must get into the greenhouse and secure the bubble wrap and nip the top of the sweetpeas.  Not venturing out today though.  It's blowing a gale and looks cold and wet.  Thinking about lighting a fire.

Blowing most of a gale here too and I shall definitely light the fire when I get home, having collected loads of wood this week image

Sorry Beaus, you post must have arrived after I left - maybe Dove will provide cake laterimage

Lizzie I hope you can smuggle the crackers back into France.  Because they contain explosives you have to be 16 to buy them now.image  I can't remember a Christmas when we all blew ourselves up, even with 12 peopleimage

So far we haven't much wind but had heard of amber warnings.  Batten down the hatches and stay safe if you are affected.  Enjoy your fire Steveimage  Sounds as though you need one too Yvie - be kind to yourself.
