Morning Dove, and those to come. Thanks for reminding me - our bins need to go out this morning too, and i forgot last night. Not peeked out yet, but its got to be better than yesterday's mizzly drizzle.
first pumpkin carved last night ....Stacey, if you're looking in, we're thinking of you
Morning Chicky No pumpkin carving here - OH usually carves some for the farm shop display, but all their delivery of pumpkins sold out within the first couple of days! They've tried to get some more, but no luck .....
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
We have plenty here this year. Have recently become a fan of toasted pumpkin seeds as a snack, and was going to save some. But Mr Google has just informed me that the edible ones come from a different sort of Pumpkin. So that explains why the ones in the packs are green, and the ones in my pumpkins are white. Self sufficiency remains just that little bit out of reach. Which means I'd better go earn something to pay the grocery bill......see you later gardening peeps
Morning all. Big day at work and to be honest I'm cream crackered! Thank goodness tomorrow is my day off and next week I'm even getting a proper "weekend" - these one day offs really scramble my brain.
Does anyone know if elephant garlic will grow happily in a pot?
Hi Clari I don't see why not so long as it doesn't get waterlogged Can I ask why elephant garlic, I thought it was very mild in taste and most suited to roasting, maybe that's what you want it for
I've solent wight to try this year but thought I'd try elephant for the novelty factor and that it's good for roasts so isn't purely to keep myself amused..
Clari I grew solent wight last year but didn't get it in early enough so it didn't make decent bulbs. This year I've already planted Carcassonne wight (strong & vigorous) and Lautrec wight (creamy & smooth) both growing well.
Morning, looking nice again here, apparently it is going to get get a bit cooler next week.
Made a lovely recipe from the BBC Good Food calender, Butternut Dauphinoise yesterday, using a mix of squash and potatoes, think would be good with pumpkin too. Really tasty.
Finally finished digging out and putting bulbs in long driveway border, topped with Bellis Daisy. Really think two days work in spring and autumn is too much for such a small impact area so thinking of getting some little Hebe Jasper for next year and spacing them out a bit so at least the planting area is reduced. My back and backs of my legs are aching like mad.
Tidying up and shredding today and son has discovered horse riding so am taking him for another lesson later. Think that might be a hobby that could get a bit pricy but he did love the first trial lesson so we will indulge for the moment, see if the novelty wears off.
Have a good day all.

Good morning Dove & Chicky, damp and dull here but quite mild, expecting 16C today.
No pumpkins here but I do have a butternut squash that's past it's best.
