I came home from daughter's, just in time to record Monty Don.
The grandsons enjoyed today. We went for a walk in some woods that lead to a big animal park full of pens of bright coloured pheasants and parrots, furry pigs, goats, racoons, wolves, llamas, emus, wallabies, flamingos etc. etc. There wasn't even a charge at the entrance. Then we had lunch in a restaurant that was child friendly. Just as well, the grandsons are a noisy bunch! Then we went to a huge hangar full of bouncy castle type air filled huge things to bounce and slide down on. Also there was a go cart racing track outside. They had a whale of a time and smallest (4) fell asleep on the way home.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Had a wonderful day at the Tower - thank you to Lily - without your pictures earlier I never would have thought to go.
Very moving - so many individual flowers - so many sons, brothers, lovers.
Also couldn't help wondering what it must feel like to be an artist with an idea THAT big, and then to actually see it materialise before your eyes - must be quite a feeling.
Hi folks. Finally managed to get my hands on the laptop again... OH managed to miss the storm by staying for a gossip after his meeting (who says women chat more than men!), so it was merely damp and windy when he returned.
Hope it's brighter tomorrow! I'm off to Warrington to my daughter's, to tidy up her garden in the expectation she and her OH will decide to take up the opportunity to live in Galway. She and her family are, in their turn, hoping the ferries are running tomorrow - the start of their mini-break in Ireland to see if they like the look of it. I gather the stumbling block may be the Irish health service, which is reputedly not great, so that nearly half the population have private health insurance. Existing conditions aren't covered by insurance for the first six months, even for babies, so their 6-month-old daughter's digestive problems might make the move impossible. We shall see...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
LPilly - you could buy them, but think they are now all sold - which means £millions raised for forces charities. Here is another pic - sun not out this time, but more of an impression of how many there are
