I just popped into the city on the bus and bought myself a lovely little felted jacket - it's my uncle (Ma's little Bro) and aunt's 60th wedding anniversary next week, and I've just heard from my cousin that they're hoping to take them out for a meal to celebrate, and they're hoping that their bridesmaids can join them as a surprise! I was their littlest bridesmaid - only 20 months old - and I know Uncle J has always been very fond of me. I've not seen them for about 20 years; they've been living in Provence; but their health isn't good now and they've returned to the UK.
I thought I knew what I was going to wear, dark jade lacy Monsoon top, toning wideleg trousers and blue kimono-style jacket - but while OH and I were in the city yesterday I wandered through East and saw this http://www.east.co.uk/boiled-wool-jacket-with-pin-pink/ and haven't been able to forget it ...... so I went and bought it. It looks perfect with the dark jade top, and I'm very chuffed

Woody, love your maths... Agree with you about motivation being the main thing - if you're a gardener you'll make a garden out of whatever surrounds your house... It took around 10 years for me to realise it was better to let the garden tell me what would grow well in it, rather than trying to make unsuitable (though lovely) plants fit into my plans. So each of my gardens has been different, and each has had a harmony of its own. I've been so lucky!
Thanks, Beaus Mum - had a happy visit with Mum, who is going downhill fast as far as her memory goes, but was having a really happy day. She just wanted to hold my hand and hear about her great grandchildren... So glad your mum is bearing up under her chemo. I'm sure your being with her yesterday was a real encouragement. Fingers still crossed for your move as well...
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.
Trees arrived and planted, had to change eucalyptus to different variety (parvofolia) as the one they delivered first was too small and didn't tick the instant box. Fantastic service at Wentworth GC. Still pondering the best spot for amelanchier but think its going where the cold frame was.
Good evening all, hope all are well, sad to hear about some of the ageing parents, must be so difficult.
Love the jacket Dove, gorgeous colour.
Sounds like a super holiday Fidget, so brave of you, I tried diving once and just felt claustrophobic, wish I had liked it.
Had my hair cut too today, lady comes to house, I asked to be like Frankie from Strictly, sort of looks like it, sort of, certainly won't tomorrow when I get to have a go at it. Funnily enough hairdresser knows BL, has even done her hair too. Small world.
Glad you got your trees in Mrs G.
I hate to be smug but at last today finally finished (nearly, still some edging to do) the border that has been worrying me all summer, really was like a jungle but too big a job to attempt whilst so much else wanted doing. I know this is not really what a gardener hopes to achieve but I actually got to see soil today at last, from one end to the other. Now at least I know what I am dealing with (again, sort of, will be posting some ID pics soon as a few bits have no idea about). Going to get some bulbs in tomorrow and hopefully get some cuttings from gardening club started in GH over winter to fill the gaps. Might even persuade Oh to let me have a few packets of seeds - see a cake baking session on the horizon first.
Pics for perusal, indulge me please, I know it isn't a knock your sox off flower bed but for now, it is to me.
This is the before picture.
Now today's update.
