Hi, I'm back, slept most of Sunday! I love Gg's pictures. The show was a great success, lots said it was the best ever and were inspired to join in next year. Not sure where we might put additional exhibits as Hall was pretty much chocker as it was.
Weather was kind and storms passed us by to east and west. I was glad my Tarte tatin was OK... third out of three... the judge liked it but would have liked it more if I had peeled my tomatoes. The recipe didn't ask for this, and as they were only cherry toms. and I like rustic, not sure if I would do anything differently. Anyway probably would have come third as our village has some great cooks of the feminine variety. ( watch this space for our village recipe book !) All in all a fantastic event, and lots of happy faces. The standard of exhibits was very high and the hortsoc. goes from strength to strength..
Hey, this training works. The aussie lodger has given me notice he will be arriving at luton airport on Thursday. I have given him train directions to the local station where I will pick him up. I think after, Paris, Munich, Amsterdam and Prague, he's running out of money again.....Advert... Bronzed Australian hunk available for work. Can do lawns(with or without T shirt)...will be working for food and lodging....
As his mother says, you only hear from them when they've run out of cash.
I've taken a dislike to Phlomis fruticosa, so I've hacked it down. It leaves a big space for something else.Just the shredding , weeding, and soil prep to do.
I've also put the first spring bulb order in.
Now how many of those exquisite orchid flowered daffs can I afford from Ron Scamps site...?
Hi OL, Glad your ankle is OK keep it up and iced. That article is right up my street too. Had a quick flick through the mag and got a real shock when I reached page 82. I am absolutely terrified of them, cant even bear to type the word or look at pictures. Now before you all start I know its an irrational fear, but knowing it doesnt help. Once spent the whole day standing on a table at Cannock Chase, I was acting as a steward for a fund raising walk and somone kindly said how lucky they had been to see an A***r crossing the path just a few yards up the track. Why couldnt he have kept quiet.
Nice and hot here but a bit cloudy, hubby just kindly informed me that I need to plant the grass I bought yesterday and enquired why the papyrus grass was looking a bit pale. Wasnt he thoughtful - as he lay on a sunbed in his shorts. My answer was thoughtful too, although not printable especially as I am doing his washing at the moment! Have a good day everyone.
Just read fidgets post, although I love plants and gardening there are a few I could never grow because I simply cant stand them, dont know why but there it is. Main culprits are
Just reading it now OL, the neighbour is due to drop her new puppy here soon so he can get to know me before i look after him while they go on hols, so i had to have a tidy and spray some fabreeze!

Think I've spent an eye watering amount these last 3yrs bekkie
OL, so very glad you didn't break anything. But do take care sprains are very painful as are torn ligaments (spelling??) Rest, feet up and let your 3 boys wait on you hand and 'foot'......sorry .........at least for a couple of days. No standing on it for too long either!! Take care, hugs. Heres a little bouquet.
Aww Lily, that is so pretty thank you, I wish I could take it out if the screen. I'm thinking of growing some miniature sunflowers next year, they are so so pretty....my list is getting longer
Considering what I have in my garden I don't think I've spent that much as most of them have been reduced, on offer or from discounters, I have very few plants that were full price
I have an irrational fear too Yvie but thankfully (hopefully) I don't think they will ever be featured in GW Mag
