@Ergates , you can edit your privacy settings on GC so that your date of birth is hidden (I can't remember if it was hidden as default or not).

I'm not a regular poster but I'll really miss this forum. Scrolling through the threads and searching for answers to my current burning issues has been a weekly habit. I also love seeing all the photos and wildlife advice. Ah well, things move on. I've now just joined the GC forum so hope that will be a worthy substitute. Agree that the layout is a bit messy and it took me a while to figure out how to do the first post but hopefully should get easier.

Useful suggestion, @amancalledgeorge. My problem is usually that I can’t remember what I put last time! And on one occasion, my chosen date meant I was too young to register! Looks like I will join anyway, and work it all out later.

I’m now thinking I must get my last minute questions on line here, and submit photos of things I’d like identified. But only a week to go!

Hopefully will see lots of you at a later date. In case I don’t, thanks for all the advice I’ve received since I’ve been a member here. So many of you have been so generous with your time and expertise, and it’s been so appreciated.

I know things change, but the very short notice of the closure is disappointing to say the least.  I can imagine many less regular users of the Forum will try to access in a couple of weeks and see absolutely nothing.
I was a member of a photographic forum where the plug was pulled but even they gave a couple of months notice.

Thank you @clematisdorset, I have enjoyed reading your posts too and look forward to seeing you in the new space!

Crumbs this is all a bit sudden,  it looks like a financial issue,  stopping at the end of the financial year.   🤔

Not sure what I will  do yet not long to decide.

I'd be happy to take it on

Maybe offer to help GC upgrade their site from 1998.
