I am gutted. I will have a look at GC but not sure yet if I will transfer. I have looked at a few others in the past but found them awkward to use. I do not use Social Media in any way so that is out for me. I have enjoyed using GW, especially since my health scare in May last year. I have been forced to change my life style and activities and had a lot more time to join in discussions and ask for advice on various threads, like a great many others. A massive loss to a great many people. Happy gardening to everyone if I do not bump into you in the future.
I know some people hate the word, but I feel totally discombobulated this morning. I am supposed to be an accomplished sort of fellow: long medical career, worked in some seriously dangerous war zones, an adviser to governments of both hues etc etc, but I feel lost. As many know I have suffered with severe depression on and off for many years, and also from a debilitating illness for which I can thank Saddam Hussain. This site has been a lifeline for me, and at the moment I am not sure I have the will to go through the process of joining a new forum.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Only popped on the forum as I was sat in a boring online meeting to find out the news of the site’s demise!
I want to thank everyone who has helped me over the last few years, I wish I could do so by name but there are so many of you and I’d not want to miss anyone out.
I’m not the most social of people so I never really got too involved in the banter and really only came here for a bit of help. But I knew whenever I came and posted a question, someone would be there with an answer. This is the best source of gardening knowledge and it’s been a real pleasure to be part of it.
Thanks again to all of you, my garden would be even more of a mess than it is without you!! 😄
Most of the regulars here tend to just use recent discussions, so it's just a different approach, and one I've always thought should have been used here as it would have saved people having to answer questions about laurel hedges 200 times a year !
What I'm hoping is that it'll be simple to add photos. They never did address that here. Very strange when you consider how important it is for helping folk.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
This is the third time this has happened to me; I was a long term poster on the BBC poetry board, which closed abruptly, then the BBC Food board. I am very lucky that someone was able to host another foodie forum, where @Dovefromabove and I can post safely (plus a few others, who also post here). Not sure I have the energy to commit to Gardeners' Corner, so it's adieu from me. Thanks for all the advice - and I freely admit, I have taken more than I have been able to offer.
