Hi all, saw the closure in email. V.sad, but tbh I used this forum hugely when I took time off to garden and then neglected it when work got crazy again.
Such is life.
I do have fond memories of the amazing expert and rapid advice I got at times I really needed it in the past partic from Nut, Dovefromabove and even Pansieface (a tad grumpy sometimes), and for that I thank you, I found your advice better than the RHS. Also, having recently joined a Surrey Gardeners FB Forum where well intended and amazingly amateur gardeners reply with guesses, I realise again how well informed this GW forum is. Some of you on GW get it right first time, with minimal information, from experience.
Let’s celebrate the forum for all it has given.
And for the GW team that enabled it. Thank you and happy gardening!
It should be on your name top right of the screen hoover over it and you'll see signature 2nd one down - or click on your name and its on the left side of the page . @SherwoodArrow
Hmmm, still can't seem to find it but I am on a tablet at the minute. I'll try on the computer tomorrow when I'm not so tired. Thank you for your help @Perki.
Fair play to Gardeners Corner for reacting by placing a banner on their home page to welcome new members from here.
For those keen to preserve connections, you could add your GW forum username into your signature or the About You page on Gardeners Corner (click your username and Personal Details once you've signed up) if you aren't able to keep your username.
A community isn't the building, it's the people in it. @punkdoc, you'll still be my guiding hand as someone very local to me who is a far more accomplished gardener that can reassure me what works for you should work for me. None of you will be any less helpful just because you're logging in to a different site!
I've received the email today. I am shocked, probably been on here for about 10 years, met some friends, have seen me through difficult times, had a laugh. Actually met 3 fellow Forkers in real life.
Just join the other forum @Nanny Beach. Like you, I've been here over ten years, and have thoroughly enjoyed it - apart from the regular sh*t stirrers and troublemakers, but I've gone from being a bit shocked and sad, to being bloody annoyed about it. I see the powers that be have removed some threads again. Funny how they can't be bothered answering people's very understandable queries about it all though. I epxect this post of mine will get removed too. I'm now past caring about it all....
@SherwoodArrow - it'll all be fine once you get going and work out how to change things. In the meantime, the mods there will help you, but I expect they've been a bit overwhelmed.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

Morning everyone, I've been on here around eleven years and have made some lovely 'friends' on here. We've not just helped each other with plant problems but have been there for each other through rough times and the good. I'd like to thank those who have been there for me, not just on the Rezzers thread but that have sent PMs and emails to help me through the last few years. But especially the past few months since my husband died. I'm very grateful for all your kind words, understanding and support. You don't know how much you've helped. Especially on the very dark days when I didn't want to talk or see anyone. Sometimes just peeking in and reading through or seeing all the wonderful photos posted. I haven't posted as much lately, but have always known you're there for me. And I'm very grateful to have made such lovely friends. Thank you all so very much. Such a shame this forum is closing.
@star gaze lily - I'm so sorry. I had no idea you'd lost your husband. I'm also so sorry that my arms simply aren't long enough to reach and give you a big hug. I wish there was something else I could add to that, but it won't really help and I'm sure you've heard it all already. Knowing that people care, and are thinking of you, is the biggest comfort of all though.
I'll send you lots of love instead. xxx

Hi @SherwoodArrow - you'll not get this option if you've only just joined. Wait a few days and it'll appear in your profile.
I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful
