    Hey everyone.Ā

Off to bed with my herbal tea and to listen out for the owl. I struggle to find the time or concentration for novels these days. I remember my one grandmother would have several books on the go at a time! One by the chair, one by the bed, one in the loo!Ā

Night all. Hope those with colds, pains, worries or poor sleep can catch a break.Ā

Thanks. I’ve just reserved Tomorrow and tomorrow and tomorrow. I’ve already read and enjoyed Lessons in Chemistry.

Hi everyone. Ā Well, I convinced Hubby to leave the washing for another day since my weather people told me yesterday that it would be a stormy day today. Guess what - they’ve changed their minds and there’s no rain today. He’s not happy.Ā

As usual, Wednesday is town day, so we’re off into town soon.Ā

My reading consists of Anne Perry and Kerry greenwood at the moment. I have read them all before, but I enjoy reading them again.Ā

Back from town and worn out. It’s hot and muggy and thankfully, Hubby is putting away the groceries. I’m out of breath again, or should I say, still. Ā I’m not sure whether it’s me or medication. I’ll be seeing my GP in a week or so.Ā

    Morning Forkers

I did have a better night's sleep, thank you @Lizzie27 . Yesterday afternoon I went into the garden to "just" check the slugs around the hemerocallis and instead I pottered about for over an hour. Cleared some rotten leaves and was pleased to see that one of the pulmonaria has one flower. If the weather holds I will do another "I'll just", I forget bad stuff when I work in the garden.Ā

Anyone watching Breathtaking? I wasn't sure I would want to watch it. Hopefully things will be different next time. Living in Lux we could watch footage from many European countries and believe me it was harrowing everywhere. Something I will never forget was the military vehicles leaving hospitals in Lombardy, taking coffins to other parts of Italy as local crematoria couldn't cope with the numbers. Long convoys through empty roads, where, at road junctions, police would get out of their cars and salute.Ā

We were damn lucky to survive that.

    Good morning all 😊 ā˜•ļøĀ
Don’t think I can watch Breathtaking at the moment … what with the year I’ve just had, coming so close on the heels of COVID, coupled with the state of the world, I’m trying to protect myself from horrors and anxieties a bit. It’s not that I don’t care … I care a huge amount … but I so need some brighter days. šŸ¤žĀ

I slept quite well considering this cold … I woke myself coughing a couple of times and OH abandoned ship for the spare room … but I went back to sleep until nearly 7am 😊

Hope everyone else had a restful night 😊

I agree with you, @Dovefromabove, I don’t think I could cope with watching Breathtaking. Sad or upsetting things really stick in my memory for years, to resurface in the middle of the night. They seem to be impossible to get rid of, just wait sneakily to resurrect themselves when I’m least able to cope. Hence my avoidance of news headlines, and definitely any adverts for charities.Ā
I once tried that technique where you think about the upsetting thing, while moving your eyes from side to side. I must look that up again for more information. With the state of the world at the moment, it could be very useful.
On a brighter note, the friend that suffered a stroke over a week ago is making great progress and has been allowed home from hospital. Great to be able to speak to her on the phone, she is feeling so much better.
Wet, dull and grey today, so a day at home planned. Hoping to get something more constructive done, rather than housework which will just need doing again, and again and again! OH is watching Formula 1 practice, so I’ll Ā leave him to it.
Hope everyone starts to feel better soon.Ā

    Good morning all.

Friend who was coming to stay rang to say she isn't well so they can't come today. Hoping it will just be postponed. OH is disappointed, he's known them a long time. I won't be preparing food this morning after all.

    Oh that’s a shame @Busy-Lizzie … hope you can reschedule that soon.Ā
