    Hi all

The sun is shining, so I thought I better get up [ slovenly behaviour I know], plus I have a delivery of plants this afternoon.

Afternoon all, dry with sunshine here but as I don't feel very energetic I'm not gardening yet. We all had a very late lie in and leisurely breakfast, sister left an hour ago and I'm just relaxing.
Poorly brother's wife now has a chest infection and is struggling to cope with my brother who's being rather difficult, most unlike him. My sister, who lives nearest, will pop over on Thursday to help out when the district nurse is also due. He probably really needs to go into respite care for a week or so.
I offloaded two single red peonies and a rose onto my sister for her big new border.
My daughter has just called to say she wants to postpone coming today due a sleepless night so that's fine as it will give me a rest between visitors.

Sorry you had a sleepless night @coccinella. Hope you sleep better tonight.

Plant delivery sounds exciting @punkdoc, just what you need to cheer you up. What did you order?

Glad you got more rain @Pat E
Sorry to hear you've got a cold @Dovefromabove. Look after yourself.

    Have a good day all.

    Afternoon everyone,
Well, it was a very pleasant morning - mild and bright. Now it’s back to wet and miserable. I’m glad we decided to do our town chores this morning.
Hope your cold soon goes @Dovefromabove.
Wishing all of you suffering sleepless nights a better one tonight šŸ¤žšŸ¤ž.

Some sun today, and no rain, so we kicked off the morning with a trip to the seaside and Ā a walk on the prom. Went into Boots to treat myself to a new lipstick, bought another item, got a free gift and Ā£10 off as well! And I paid for it with my loyalty card points, so I came home with bag of goodies, and didn’t part with any cash. Very pleased about that.Ā
Out to the garden for an energetic hour of cutting back a cherry laurel and more bramble removal. Digging out the roots with the mini mattock has been making my back ache, so I fished out my Chillington hoe to see how that would work. Much easier as no bending required. I was very disappointed after buying it, as the head kept coming loose, so it’s been dumped in the shed for a couple of years. So far, it seems to be working ok, and looks as if it will be helpful.
OH has hung up the bird house on one of the beech trees. Hopefully the blue tits will be checking it out soon. Then back in for a late lunch and a rest. I do have to pace myself to reduce the aches and pains these days, so I’m trying to do little and often, maybe half an hour to an hour a day, rather than trying to make a whole day of it.
Weather warning for rain tomorrow, take care everyone.Ā

I've had a respite from guests as daughter has postponed her visit to next week- cat sitting difficulties and also the weather forecast doesn't look good enough for the next few days.
DIL will however still be staying overnight but she's no problem and we're always pleased to see her. She'll tell us more about their skiing holiday than my son did!

We eventually got out about three-ish, I cut down/pulled out the old stipa canes and dead leaves and OH mowed the lawns. Seems your battle with the bramble patch is never ending @Ergates.

Thanks, @punkdoc and @didyw, for mentioning Demon Copperhead. I got it through the online library this weekend, and have been stuck into it ever since. Just finished it tonight, couldn’t put it down despite being heartbreaking in places. I hope I find can something equally brilliant to start on next.

Loved both of those too @punkdoc.Ā  And you don't have to be into gaming to enjoy Tomorrow and Tomorrow and Tomorrow so if anyone is put off by that - don't be!
