My daughter sent this photo of a plant that appeared in her garden in Canberra.

She doesn’t know where it came from.

Looks a little like Devil's Fingers fungus, Clathrus archeri, which is native to Australia.

    Hello everyone

Grey skies but not cold. We went out with friends last night, it was kind of balmy! Very strange.
I had a delivery of compost and of bark chips, the man who delivered was lovely: "I will carry the bags where you want them Madame". Nice to get some service for a change.
I am very saddened by the death of Navalny, he demonstrated incredible courage and integrity.

    Be well, be safe.

Yes, @coccinella, very sad. I think there hs been foul play. Very dangerous being on the Russian opposition.

OH wanted to go to Been Q today so I went with him, hoping they had violas, but they didn't have the colour I wanted so we went to a GC 😁

Hello everybody, it's been quite nice all day so I've been out in the garden again. I wanted to lift a short paving slab path, mainly all odd sizes which has been a makeshift path in a sloping bed for years. I was going to substitute 3 rectangular old concrete ones but they were jolly heavy, then I broke one when it fell off the sack truck. I gave up at lunchtime when I couldn't get them (a) straight and (b) level! Will try again tomorrow.

Wish we had that kind of service over here @coccinella.

I was shocked but not surprised abut the news of Navalny's death/murder. I must confess I couldn't understand why he went back to Russia after he was poisoned.

    Have a good weekend everyone.

Managed a decent walk this morning, but had to wear wellies, it was extremely muddy underfoot. Out to the garden for an hour and a half this afternoon. OH. Dry kindly offered to do the shredding for me ( I think he was just trying to get out of any DIY jobs) so I dragged down all the pruning I’d generated earlier in the week, and then started to tackle the bramble patch behind the summerhouse. Mini mattock and red suede welding gloves did the trick. I’ve got about four times as much still to do, but at least I’ve started.
First fall of the year, I was dragging a pile of holly branches when I caught my ankle in a bramble and ended up on my hands and knees. Lucky I had the gloves on, and the path was soft mud, didn’t even get a bruise on my knees, which are naturally well padded anyway. OH told me off for not having the walk-in talkie with me, I was out of sight and if I had needed to call for help, he wouldn’t have heard me over the noise of the shredder.
    Take care, everyone.

I only just heard about Navalny, very suspicious.
We were at the Houses of Parliament today. We had a formal guided tour,  and after lunch we went back round on the self guided tour with audio guide.  We may have our criticism of our system but the contrast couldn't be more clear.  It was emphasised many times  how Parliament is open to the general public and accountable to us all.

I hope it works @punkdoc.  Lots of medicines are plant based anyway.

I'm waiting for chicken and leek pie to cook. I've put pastry hearts on it for OH as we didn't do Valentine's day. He loves chicken and leek pie.
