I just popped in to say hello and goodnight. I was at cottage and worked a good four hours outside on the fresh air. Tomorrow I have a role of taxi driver. My mum and aunt are going to one day trip to Slovenia (again with old folks😂), and I must drive mum to her sister place at 5:30 am. They will come back around midnight, so I will collect her and drive back home. Hope to do some shopping and visit GC by the way.
Goodnight and hope to see you all tomorrow, or Sunday morning. .
Good morning all. Ante will already be on his journey so I will have words when you get back Ante 'old folks' indeed! Bet your Mum and Aunt would have some words to say too! That is a long day for you all though. I'm sure you will enjoy your shopping - especially the GC.
Busy, I am glad to hear that the Pavlova a.k.a. Eton Mess went down well.
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
Good morning all. Yesterday at work was worse than expected at one point we were all in tears and one colleague walked out. Most of the customers were pleasant but of course there are always some shouting and swearing because prescriptions are not ready. Not a good experience for anyone. I understand the frustration of the customers but we are genuinely trying our very best.
Grey here but hoping for some time in the garden to soothe my nerves.
Thank you, Debs. Meringue isn't that difficult so long as the oven isn't too hot. Pavlova isn't the same as ordinary meringue as it is soft in the middle. You have to add cornflour and a tsp of vinegar.
Handyman G has come to replace the front garden path.
This afternoon I'm going to make posies for the Mothering Sunday service.
Dordogne and Norfolk. Clay in Dordogne, sandy in Norfolk.
Morning all. Ante, that is going to be a long day for you and a long drive. Nice to break it up with a visit to the garden centre, hope you find something nice there. Be sure to get a good rest when you get home. Four hours today is enough🙂😉 Debs, I am so sorry to read about your day from hell yesterday. Is it the customers causing the upset or news about your work situation……or both? It’s not a nice environment for any of you to be working in and obviously the person who walked out has just had enough. People shouting is uncalled for. Do you have any signs up around the shop about Zero tolerance of abuse / violence? In this day and age no one should have to put up with verbal abuse or otherwise. Please look yourself and watch your blood pressure( seriously). It’s quite overcast outside but I haven’t been out yet. Was hoping to get in the garden but if the Easterly wind is still around I’ll be back inside pronto. It was bitter yesterday.
Good afternoon everyone .Ante enjoy your trip with your mum .Debs sorry to read how you and your colleagues were so upset yesterday . I know the staff are very busy at our local chemists . When I popped in yesterday there was a long queue. Fortunately there was only one woman who kept grumbling .LB I hope you have a good day .Will you be gardening ?Busy I hope the path replacement goes well.Enjoy your posy making .Brings back memories of my childhood and the lovely posies that were given to mums at our local Methodist church . My OH has had a bad few days .From time to time the nursing staff decide that his legs are sufficiently clear of breaks and decide to try him in support stockings instead of compression bandaging . EVERY time they do this the good that the bandaging has done breaks down overnight .On Wednesday the nurses put him in stockings again . On Thursday morning the skin had broken down and needed antibiotics. I actually took pics and showed them to the receptionist at the docs . She was quite shocked . She said leave it with me I will get back to you .She got back to me ,told me that the doc said he is on antibiotics and needs to keep the socks on for a week .To cut a very long and convoluted story short .There was no way he could use the stocking. I managed to speak to a nurse and she said don’t put the socks back on .Unfortunately there were no nurses available to re-dress his legs until Monday .I have had to do the bandaging . He is not well enough to travel on buses and he can’t get into taxis .A visit to A @ E was out of the question. There was much more involved with this situation but I don’t want to elaborate. One thing I will say ,when the nurse approached the doc for instructions she said she didn’t know what to do in these circumstances???? Sorry for the long post .I have written at length explaining to the nurses why I think OH should remain in compression bandages .
Oh Rubee, I am so sorry to read about the problems your poor OH is having with his legs. It does not, unfortunately, surprise me that Docs don’t know what to do given some circumstances, all our doctors are very young and have no life experience or common sense to fall back on. Meanwhile, in your case, your OH suffers. You must continue to do what you know is best for him. You will know exactly how his skin reacts to certain materials and it’s a crying shame to undo good progress made by the bandaging by changing it. I certainly do not blame you for writing a letter. Do you remember I did that a while ago? Sometimes it is so frustrating when you ask for help and you know what you are being told is the wrong course of action because, above all, we know our bodies. Keep positive, look after OH and yourself and fight your corner. Could you ask for a home visit?
Hazel thank you for your concern .A home visit is not possible this weekend .I have managed to get an appointment at the surgery with a nurse on Tuesday. Hopefully she will be able dress his legs ,her expertise is not in dressings .I am sure she will do a better job than I am able to do .Wednesday he goes to the dressing hub at a local community centre . He is picked up in a mini bus .I will keep an eye on his legs regarding how the antibiotics are working . Hazel I do remember you writing a letter .
