Good news from @Badly_Maintained 😊 Hopefully @punkdoc has had a reasonable night … and everyone else is as ok as possible 🤞
We’re planning to get back to normal (or as near as dammit) today … son has gone to work … there’s beds to change, decorations to take down and pack away, meds to pick up … and a chilli to make …
Have a good day folks 😊

A slightly belated happy new year to everyone -- I wish you all a healthy, peaceful, prosperous, and contented 2024 and beyond, and for the world to be a fairer and more tolerant place. I've turned into a lurker for the last few months due to family and health issues, but hopefully that will switch around in a few months.
Happy New Year, @Desi_in_London. Hope things improve for you soon. @punkdoc, have you checked back to your other hip op? When did you start to feel better after that? Maybe helpful to count down the days? Sounds like you’ve got enough morphine, but I’ve got plenty of Fybogel! I found that post op side effect worse than the pain! I'm taking the decorations down today, and putting the booze bottles away in the cupboard. I’ll need to finish the open bottles of port and mulled wine, though that won’t be a hardship. I’ve nearly dealt with all the laundry from the visitors. Need to review the fridge contents as well. No one fancied the Cambozola, eat by 3rd Jan, so I’ll freeze it in smaller portions for myself. A miserable day here, very dark and dull, but at least the rain has stopped.
Morning all, another dark, dreary day but fortunately no smoke alarm beeping this morning. We do have an amber warning for strong wind gusts which is a bit of a worry as my daughter is planning to drive up from Devon to fetch her laptop.
I'm just drinking my coffee and waiting for the rain to ease before braving the S/M, need to get some veggy options in for daughter for tonight.
Sorry to hear about your SIL @Lizzie27 - and about all those ambulances lined up and the oh-so-busy nurses. And hope your family's health issues are resolved soon @Desi_in_London.
Hope you are getting plenty of roughage @punkdoc - opiates do bung one up rather, as I found out after I broke my wrist.
We'll take our tree down tomorrow - then it really will be back to business.
Hello all, cold and grey today so I think we'll light the log burner. Grump away @punkdoc I remember what it was like after the op but of course I don't have your added problems. Just hang in there, it will improve. I had a chat yesterday with someone I haven't seen or been in contact with for Fifty years, I won't bore you with the details. She found my daughter and asked if she could contact me. We did some reminiscing of what we could remember, she said she remembered me wearing a very short skirt to her 21st birthday party!! anyway we are going to keep in touch now and hope to see each other later in the year. It's my son's birthday today, I asked him what's he's up to.....he has a slot booked at the tip!
we have yet another wet, dreary day here. It’s a wonder we haven’t washed away.
Thats nice @floralies to be in contact with a friend from the past. I hope it all goes well with the meet up.
I haven’t put the decorations away yet, it will be 12th night when they all go away, although I think I might start putting some away before then. These grim, grey days seem a little more bearable with the twinkling tree lights.
I hope you start to feel less discomfort very soon @punkdoc.
We are awaiting further news about my SiL who had a very bad fall a few days ago. Things are serious, so we have to hope and pray.
Hopes and prayers, @Red maple. The wind direction has changed. I’ve just had to go and retrieve one of the bird feeders which has been blown off the branch. The squirrel deterrent dome has broken as well. Bit scary as each gust hits. I’d better bring the wreath in from the front door. This is literally minutes after OH was saying how we seem to be quite sheltered here. Some scary waving of trees and branches out there.

I'm going to get in the logs, do another coat of oil stuff on the stairs then go to the SM. Running out of fruit, veg and milk.
I'm not taking down the Christmas tree or the few decorations until after OH gets here. I'm picking him up from the airport on Sunday.
Really grumpy today, won’t bore you.
