    Morning all.

Thank you LB for sons birthday wishes, you are correct. Will be popping up later when he's had some sleep after a twelve hour shift at work.

Busy, pleased to hear you and OH are reunited and it sounds as if you had a jolly time last night( even though you then didn't sleep too well).🙂

Debs, all the best to your fiancé, hope all goes well for him in his new job.

Ante, Monday mornings were always hard after time off work. I used to find that, within a day, it was as I had never had any time off at all.

Feeling rough this morning, didn't sleep well last again. another doing too well with sleeping at the moment.

    Hope those deliveries come today......

Morning all. Been horrible windy overnight. I have lost one of the covers on my veg planters. Must have blown completely off the terrace as hubby called to ask if I had lost one as there were bits all over the street below us! Yup it mine so off outside clearing up before anyone complains. I’ll go out in a bit and see if I can salvage anything from the planter before te predicted big freeze tonight. Snow cane to nothing in the end.

hope Monday/ back to school goes well for everyone. Debs nice for your fierce to start a new year with a new job, always seems to be good to start a year with something new.

We bought an IMac yesterday so probably will spend a lot of January swearing at it as I learn how it differs from the PC, but one good thing so far is that it works seamlessly with my IPad.

Enjoy your day everyone, catch the chat later.

Morning everyone and a very Happy birthday to Hazel's son🎂🎉

It's snowing!! (but not heavily - not enough to make snowball😁) With a high 'feel-like' temp of -4C there will be no gardening today methinks - will probably do some sewing and Latin instead. Have a dental check up this afternoon so at least I'll get out of the house.

@Jacquimcmahon - we switched over from PC's to Macs about 15 years ago and never looked back. We have a desktop iMac and a Macbook. After about 10 days of using one I knew I would be very unlikely to ever go back to a PC. Very intuitive to use and stuff 'just works'. Relatively expensive, but our first machines lasted 12 years whereas we seemed to have to replace PC's about every 4 or 5 years. Maybe that was just the earlier days of home computing but we're completely Apple'd now!

Highly recommend using the time-machine back up facility. Very easy to use and an excellent way of backing up all your data. Very easy to go back and retrieve that file you binned 6 months ago and now find you need... The first back up takes absolutely ages but after that it's just a few minutes once a week / whenever. I do mine onto a tiny (smaller than a mobile phone) 2TB SSD.

If you need to ask something I'm happy to help and the Apple Forum is also pretty good.

    Good afternoon,
No snow here yet, but looking at the grey, dismal sky, it wouldn’t surprise me if we got some before long. It’s bitterly cold, with a niggly, icy breeze which makes it feel colder still.
Ive not long since put away the hot metal thingy, so I’m tidy once more, until the wash basket is full enough for lily’s tv to go on again.
I went to my coffee morning group today, not many of us there but it was nice to see those who could make it. It sounds as if most of us had a quiet holiday, with some, sadly, unwell or with family members who were.
A quiet afternoon with my book, I think.

    Afternoon all.

Debs, finger crossed that all goes well for your fiancé at new work.

Winter arrived, and it's just hideous outside. Hazel wouldn't like it at all because wind is extremely strong. All roads are closed at least till tomorrow due to high wind. It's sunny and very cold. I often complain about Monday, and it's not about hard work, just that weird feeling. When my mum was in school (50 years ago in former Yugoslavia) Saturday also was normal school day, and they had only free Sunday.

Ante, poor you with those high winds again. I do feel for you and yes, you know me, I hate winds. I agree about the Monday morning feeling....not the work.....just having to get going again in the routine of early rising etc. Your mum ,having to work six days a week , must have been a super mum, well done to her.
Red Maple, I need to get my metal thing out again but have no motivation at the moment. It will pile up no doubt.
Son liked his presents and they are going out for tea to celebrate. We have been out again this afternoon, to get some more wool. I am really disappointed with the wool I ordered for the throw for SIL. It's the thickness of rope and I literally cannot knit with it. Needles are too short for number of stitches I need, the stitches don't move, and the wool is so thick I can't get the needle through the stitch. I'll have   to get something different. For now I am back to knitting baby blankets.
    Our deliveries still haven't come.😡

Thanks for the tip @Topbird , I’m looking forward to getting into creative stuff on the Mac as everyone tells me it is perfect for that.

@Songbird-2 sounds like your yarn is a real pain to work with. I have to admit is a yearn does not feel right any project I start comes to an abrupt halt. I hate working with bad yarn.

so cold even the cats have decided to stay indoors all day. Noses out on the terrace and a quick return to snuggling together on the sofa!

Have you contacted the delivery company, Hazel? Is that possible? Have they delivered to the wrong address? Did the man take a photo of the delivered parcels? Then you can see whether it's your house.

I've been making marmalade. It's too soon for bitter oranges so I'm making orange and lemon marmalade. Tried it on my wood burning oven, wasn't sure whether it would be hot enough, it wasn't quite so resorted to the gas hob. Smells good though.

No pretty labels or lid covers, utility marmalade
