Such kind words.  Thank you all.  I hope tomorrow will be better and better etc.  Thank you @Lizzie27 and @coccinella  Being on my own and incapacitated is rather frightening especially as I hadn't a suitcase prepared if I needed to be hospitalised.Â
We have had some nice meals - mostly leftovers. Â I must say that I made Mary Berry's apricot and chestnut stuffing for the cockerel on Christmas Day and found it rather bland. Â My very French friend loves it so has finished off the last of it tonight. Â We had smoked salmon on cream cheese toasts with salad tonight. Â Washed down with a nice little chilled white. Â I liked my mum's sage and onion stuffing, especially cold in between a couple of slices of bread.
Lovely menu @Busy-Lizzie  Home made pheasant casserole is to die for!  I made Mary Berry's Salmon Terrines as an entree for Christmas Eve.  Really nice.
I miss my Dad too, he died aged 86 and was a pipe smoker, then cigarettes, then cigars.  Prostate cancer but his heart gave up.   My friend in Melbourne who is undergoing chemotherapy is thought to have the cancer provoked by the pollution in London.  Yes, it was pretty bad in the 70s.  I bet that ciggie was good @punkdoc !!
That's enough for tonight.  I am signing out!  Good night all.
Weâve been working our way through all our stored videos of Death in Paradise. Itâs good to see them again. Â You tend to forget some of the bits and pieces slipped in. Â Nice and easy Who Done Its without the horrible stuff in US type videos. đł
Not a great day yesterday, in a lot of pain, so couldnât settle to read, but at least having bought a tele for the bedroom meant I had something to do. Hopefully today will be better. Love to all.
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
Good morning all đ âïžÂ Glad youâve got something to help distract you @punkdoc ⊠ârubbish daytime tellyâ has its uses đ there may even be some decent films on today and tomorrow.Â
Pretty wet here too @Hostafan1  ⊠take care out there. đÂ
Thereâs a lot to be said for a whodunnit set in interesting scenery @âPat E"  ⊠and at least itâs sunny there to take our minds of this damp grey winter weâre having ⊠canât remember when I last saw the sun for more than ten minutes. And the plots donât stretch the brain too much ⊠might be just what @punkdoc needs ⊠đ đ đčÂ
Hope @tui34 âs hip is easier and that theyâre being well looked after ⊠nice to have a good cook around when youâre laid up.Â
Not a lot planned here ⊠Iâll make a potato salad and coleslaw to go with the gammon I cooked yesterday ⊠that way whenever weâre ready to eat thereâll be something. No idea whether son is staying here or meeting up with friends tonight âŠÂ

Enjoyed a restful day yesterday for once, although had to taxi Charlie around a bit. We went to the supermarket first to buy 'supplies' for his NWE 'gathering' then I dropped him off at a friend's house where they spent the afternoon baking cakes. I hadn't expected him to be too long and had a late realisation when he messaged to be picked up that it was dark and I wasn't exactly sure of the way back. Definitely a remote country spot high in the hills, thank goodness for the Satnav.Â
We then enjoyed a home made lasagne with cheesy garlic bread and watched a very silly family friendly Christmas film, all good.Â
Today I am doing a buffet for 25 at 2pm and hoping to escape in time to spend NYE with a neighbour/friend, she has lots of family over from the UK so a nice cheery houseful. CdeG is closed tomorrow so at least I can have a lie in.Â
Morning all. The rain seems to have stopped and the wind has taken a break too, but everything looking very grey so expect we have more to come.
Sorry things were not too comfortable for you last night @punkdoc, I expect everything will settle down over the next few days.
Daughter arrived home safely at 4.15 this morning saying that the journey in the rain had been horrendous. She diverted on the last stretch to drop young grandson off back at his farm (he's wanted for cattle moving today) and came home over our mountain, a clever move as the normal road up from the village to us is always flooded in one place and I suspect that after all the extra rain yesterday the flood might have been a little too much for daughter's small car.
A restful day planned here today and, no, we wont be doing anything to welcome in the New Year.
Morning all, a bit grumpy this morning as we were woken up again by the blasted smoke alarm beeping at 6.30am. Very tempted to take a hammer to it but have just ordered online a couple of the special batteries it needs in the hope that they will work. Didn't think it was worth driving into town to get 2 small batteries.
Hope the pain eases off soon @punkdoc, keep swigging the morphine!Â
Glad your friend has arrived @tui34 so you can have some tlc just when you need it.
@AnnaB, you must be so relieved your daughter's safely home in what sounds like horrible driving conditions. Glad we don't live half way up a mountain!
@D0rdogne_Damsel, hope the lunch goes well and that you enjoy the gathering tonight.
We're not doing anything special and will probably have an early night, fireworks notwithstanding.
Enjoy your day folks and see you all in the New Year.

Great that it's done and you're home @punkdoc.
I'm off to work, and it's chucking it down outside.
